Is it possible to switch the shift pattern on a stock bike? If so, is it easy and what are the steps...?

Thanks

On most bikes, yes. Just loosen the set screw holding the clamp on and rotate the clamp to be 180 degrees from where it was.

No, I don't do the gp shift pattern on any of my bikes. I bought a bike once that had it done and to put it back, all I had to do was switch around the little shifter clamp.

Good question.:)

Is it easier to push down or lift up?

5 down and 1 up or 1 down and 5 up?

The GP shift pattern was different at first, but I'm happy with it.

GP shift is the only way to go Fleet!

Kawi's are easy, just like everyone's said rotate the shift rod end 180 degrees and thats it. On my ZX-10 I had to get a notch cut into the bodywork for clearance, but the 636 is a snap since it actually rotates up for GP shift.

GP shift is easier with big feet IMO

You know what they say about guys with big feet....

They probably have Optimus Prime in their pocket!:)

The SV was GP shift configured. It seemed to be a more obvious way of using the shifter. I find myself dropping into using the GP shift pattern with ease and when I go back to the 'busa, I fumble around trying to remember which way to shift. GP just seems right.

Oh, and it's just the same on both Suzuki's I have. Pop off the clamp and rotate it 180 degrees.

For racing, or track use, GP is way easier... regardless of my previous flippant comment, I run GP on both of my race bikes. I figured the why? question was in jest.
