View Full Version : Newb ride take 2 Sunday August 5th

McVaaahhh
Mon Jul 16th, 2007, 10:04 PM
Seems to be some interest in a second newb ride this year, so I'm thinking Sunday August 5. (changed from July 29 to accomodate CSC track day)

Pre-ride speech at 9:50am, leave conoco by 10:00am sharp. That means you need to be gassed up and ready to go by 9:45am. Leaders and sweepers need to be there by 9:30.

I'd like to do a slightly technical route, but at a slow(er) pace.:turtle:
Morrison->Evergreen->Central City Parkway->Peak To Peak->Lyons and then split off wherever you want to go.
Maybe stop for lunch in there somewhere?

Let me know if anybody is interested, and if there's any leaders or sweepers willing to help out.

--Brian

Leaders/Sweepers:
1. McVaaahhh (lead)
2. BlueDog
3. Dana (lead/sweep)
4. Bandido (sweep)
5. Wahh12 (sweep)
6. Bag Man (lead/sweep)
7.
8.

Edit: This WILL BE A SLOW-PACED RIDE. Everyone is welcome (even Shortcake). I will expect the sweepers to be watching those at the back of the pack and giving riding advice, as well as communicating with the group leaders on any problems or issues they are seeing.

I'd love to help out on this, but I'm volunteering at the CSC Track Day down in Pueblo. Sorry.

Stay tuned though, for another Newb Ride announcement soon to take place on the Northside.:)

If anyone is actually keeping track (of the noobes), I regretfully need to withdrawal. :( Free tickets to the Telluride Jazz Festival; couldn't pass it up.

I was really looking forward to meeting some of the unique "characters" that post on this board! Not to mention, I feel like I'm at the point to were I could use a few tips from an experienced rider.

If anyone is north or west of Denver (I'm in Boulder, but flexible) and willing to compromise their personal ride for educational reasons on another day; I'll gladly buy you a beer.

Pretty new to the forum, (have only met one person from the forum) but if this ride goes from Morrison up towards Lyons I would like to join it. I've been riding for a few years now but haven't ridden in many groups so a newbie group might be a good way to start. I have to work at 2pm so I may cut out about half way or so.

That was fun, thanks Brian for coordinating.

Dana, Sue, Steve, and Dirk, thanks for letting Linda and I crash your Honda Lovefest.
(I knew I shoulda worn the Repsol gear at least.)

Great job by Linda (our only real noobie).
One or two stopping on slope issues (My fault too, not just Dirk's).
By the time we hit the St. Vrain she was keeping up a spirited pace.

Sue, might need to hit you up for some pics of that beautiful pristine CBR of yours to aid us in assembling that damn track bike.

Hope to ride with you all again.

Thanks for the ride all. Denise (my wife) and I came over from the flat lands in Central Kansas and just had a blast. Although we are gonna have to raise the bikes back up to stock height(lowered 2.5") it we are gonna ride with Terra and Tom again. The feelers were gettn a little grindage going on. Thanks All for an awsome weekend. We are gonna try and get that way a few more times before the winter hits.

Thanks to Jayock for meeting at the BoCo (Boulder Conoco) and leading us to MoCo safe and sound. Thanks also to Brian and Jay for leading and sweeping, and the quick response from my group at stopping and helping me out with my power failure on my bike going up that hill. I'm bringing the bike to the shop tomorrow to get it fixed, hope you're right Brian and it's a loose or faulty ignition switch...

Yeah, she was kicking butt there at the end. I took it up half a notch near the end of Highway 7 (fun section there) with Steve and Sue on my tail, figuring we'd wait at the turn but Linda was right there. She rode really well, making nice, smooth inputs to the bike as I swept the early part of the ride.

Hope to ride with you all again.

Anytime. That goes for everyone in our group yesterday.

I had a blast on this ride! Thanks to my hubby, Jeff, Dirk, Steve & Susan for putting up with noobie-ness all day. I started the day slow and finished with a lot of confidence and picked up my speed on those turns. Damn that was fun! I appreciate the pointers everyone gave me. And thanks to Brian for organizing a great gathering!

Had a great time meeting and riding with Dirk, Steve, Jeff, Dana & Linda! It was cool hangin' out with other ol' Red, White & Blues... it was fun havin' a Harley along with Jeff sportin' his Sportster ... loved Dana's Bumble Bee bike, it sounded awesome... and Linda was stylin' on her super-shiny Suzuki, and she was catchin' on and catchin' up fast! Had a blast! Thanks everyone!
