was talking to a source from a local BMW shop who may or may not be in the CSC. was saying the new K12S will be about 550lbs soaking wet and 167HP (i believe is the #). according to info online i've found they are chips to be out soon after it's release to get it over 180HP and there's always things to do to a bemmer to lighten it (can anyone say catalytic converter??). the stuff i've seen on the suspension can't get much better (even compared to real sport bikes from Japan/italy) so it's gonna kick some "jitalianese" ass when it's gets here!! :headbang: :321:

The 4-cylinder, in-line 1157cc capacity engine generates an output of 123kW (167 bhp) at 10,250 rpm. A highest torque figure of 130Nm is achieved at 8,250 rpm. In addition, more than 70 per cent of maximum torque is available from just 3,000 rpm.

gotta love that bemmer torque!!!

but it is still heavier than my R11S and has 3.5" of extra wheelbase... i'm thinking in the twisties i'll leave it for dead  :guns: :sniper:

An the price is ________?

i havent seen $$$ numbers yet but i'd guess $17500 to $18k... but BMW does at least suggest that it's gonna be a 250,000+ mile bike just like all the other K bikes

Its sooo sad that it its sooo ugly though     very unfortunate for the bike :P

i have to kind of agree with you but mainly because it's not an S. i know what an S fairing is and that one's not one.

also that wheelbase is 61.8"... that's longer than my R1100S (58.2) which is even long for a sportbike. compared to your aprillia (55.7), the modern 600's (mostly in the 54's) or god forbid the xb12r (52"!!!!!!) the K12"S" is one long ass bike. the twistier the roads gets the faster me and bueller will get a K1200S' ass whipping done and move on

61.8"... that's way long... talking to some people in the BMW crowd down here today they assure me they've heard that the wheelbase isnt an issue with this bike. the suspension design is so radical it just kicks ass anyway in the tight stuff. i'll believe it when i see it but some of these guys do have BMW factory contacts back in the motherland so..... who knows. i'm still looking forward to a ride when they get here.

So for 18k you get a heavy-ass long wheelbase bike?

Or save 6 grand, 150lbs, and 200cc's and get one of the jap liter bikes...

Just yakin ya chain, but it's true... ;)

i agree with ya. that damn thing is long!! but it did turn a 7:57 lap at nurburgring and that's damn fast for sure.

FWIW:

Lap record motorcycle:
7:49:71 by Helmut Dähne, 1993 (on Metzeler ME Z1)

so 7:57 isnt bad for a 100% street legal and road ready 550lb bike.

It's a BMW. What can I say... they stick to their styling philosophy. :| I wish they'd get a bit of Italian styling fused with German technology... :)
