View Full Version : Scenic Ride?

This is what I'm thinking for next Tuesday (July 31):

285 --> Buena Vista
24 --> Hwy 82
82 --> Glenwood Springs
shoot back on 70, or if weather and time permit,
70 --> 24
24 --> Leadville
Leadville --> 91 back to 70.

This'll be a scenic ride at a moderate pace with ample photo-opportunities. I figure I'll stop somewhere around Aspen for lunch because I'm fat and fat people need to eat.

Let me know if you're interested.

I would so do this....if it weren't for the fact that I've got an annual family outing going on that day <and was so nicely reminded about today> at Water World...gah!

Oh well, still a little bit'o summer vacation left. Dream up another one before August 20th and I might tag along.:D

I've been putting this one off for various reasons... geesh. The only other one I want to get done before the weather gets too cold is southern Utah and norther AZ. Obviously it would be a multi-day ride.

You are a big dreamer aren't ya. Meh, I gots the kids. I would definitely join ya for that ride, but they'd pounce on me if I were to be gone more than 2 days.:( Meh, I'll give them one more year of growing and will attempt longer outings next summer.

Have to reschedule -- maybe later this week, maybe next Tuesday. There is no great reason I can't go today; basically, I just woke up.

I'm thinking Thursday, maybe a 8:30 or 9am start or next Tuesday.

Hey Jason, I've got a coupla peeps who are interested in joining in on this ride. Is it still a go?

Yes, it looks like Tuesday. Let's say leave at 8am. Since it's just us, we won't have to meet all the way down at MoCo. And I mentioned on the phone the other day, we'll have to modify the path to fit time constraints. It'll still be an 8 hour day.

Anyone else wanna come along?

... Since it's just us, we won't have to meet all the way down at MoCo. ....

Where shall we meet up, Jason?

Jason ON
Sun Aug 5th, 2007, 07:59 PM
Well, since everyone's up north (as far as I can tell) let's meet at I70 and Wadsworth, north a couple of blocks on Wads and there's a Phillips and a Conoco on the right hand side. Just to make it easier on the CSCers, we'll meet at the Conoco. :D

Jason,
I know that you used to live near the DTC, so would you be able to give me directions to the Conoco from I-25/Arapahoe? Thanks, man!
Patrick

Sure.

I-25 north to I-70, west
W. to Wadsworth (about 5 miles), exit
N. on Wads to the second light -- Conoco is on the right hand side.

With the weather acting the way it's been, I'd suggest bringing something water resistant or proof just in case.

I wish I could have actually made it on the ride. It looks like it was awesome! On a positive note I have a new tire that will hopefully get me more than a months riding time!

Warren,
What kind of tires did you get?

Warren
Tue Aug 7th, 2007, 11:34 PM
I picked up another Dunlop Qualifier. I figure my front tire should need to be replaced about the time this rear does and then I'll go with something different. Maybe something a little better in the rain for the winter.

Not only that, but he needed a reminder to pick up something else on the way home. So, he wrote this on his helmet.

I need cases like yours so I can carry the beer. Never fear though. I drank a few at bww and then plenty more when I got back home!

I'll post up later if I can talk with my kids about another outing. Ya might wanna see if you can talk with a few others if you want more peeps to join. I just dunno if posting on short notice will work.

I'll let ya know if I get clearance from the kidlets.:)
