"Protecting the American Dream" Rally

Woodland Park, Colorado – On August 18th
The City above the Clouds will turn into a Mecca of motorcycles, leather, American Flags, Military Ceremonies, and a giving atmosphere all to help the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. The Woodland Retail Alliance, or WRA as we know it, is sponsoring a one day rally to benefit a very worthy cause. “The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund was founded, October 23, 2003 to help support surviving U.S. Military children who have lost a parent in the Afghanistan or Iraq wars by providing them with College Grants, as their first objective. The Relief Fund as a second objective is to help the surviving members of these families with financial assistance. The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund’s goal is to make awards to applicants in need, some whose funds were raised in their particular State that have Children under the age of 18, and who are in need of assistance with housing, repairs, utilities, medical expenses, groceries, clothing, school supplies and other expenses deemed necessary in order to help alleviate their need.” The preceding quote was taken from their mission statement and we at the WRA feel this is a very worthy cause to dedicate our city to "Protecting the American Dream" Rally.

August 18th will begin with a pancake breakfast at the Ute Inn served by the Woodland Park Firefighters. The day will continue with bike parades leaving from various motorcycle shops in the Colorado area as well as one from Ft. Carson. The event will kick off at 9:30am with a military ceremony and blessing of the bikes. Music will be provided beginning at 10am and lasting till 10pm with a great line up of talent, including Axis, Autumn Rodeo, Steele-Daniels and we’ll wind the day up with Radio London. There will be over 50 vendors and booths for the family to enjoy as well as lots of food and drink. Rocky Mountain Coors is our official beer sponsor, which means there will be a large beer garden available, as well as the Miller and Coors Girls for autographs from 2-4pm. A poker run will leave from Michael’s Motorcycle Shop, on Highway 24, beginning at 10am with a refreshing ride through the mountains including Cripple Creek, and Victor and returning to Woodland Park by 2pm that afternoon. Of course the best poker hands win various prizes, and all will be awarded at 4pm from the main stage. Between the hours of 2 & 4pm you can get involved in a scavenger hunt through the various WRA members in Woodland Park with lots of prizes being awarded at the 4pm awards ceremony. All in all it will be a great daytrip to the mountains for the whole family on August 18th for the Protecting the American Dream Rally in Woodland Park. Admission is FREE and families welcome.
