I'm thinking of going with a friend next month. Is it a waste of time or a good time? Also, will I be the only one on a sportbike? If anyone has been and would kindly offer up their opinion on what to do and what to stay away from I would appreciate it. Just trying to figure out if it is worth the flat spot it will put on my tires.

Thanks

This is from their website. They've got an entire section dedicated to the Wet-T-Shirt contest. I'm guessing that at this point, it doesn't matter much what you ride as long as you can get their early enough to get the front row.

Generally, it looks like a lot of cruisers and tour bikes. But, I'm sure there'll be quite a few sport bikes too. Having ridden all over LV/NLV/Henderson, I can say that there is always something to check out in town. On the outskirts there are but a few places one could even call twisties. The best of which is Mt. Charleston just to the n/w of town. LV Motor Speedway is a hoot and you might get a chance to do the Richard Petty or Mario A driving schools. You can drop by the Shelby museum just up the street which is two minutes away from Freddie Spencer's office/classroom. Cool stuff and easily 3 -8 hours of you time spent.

I'm no pro at Vegas but I've been there four times in the last year and a half and tend to spend a lot of time just checking things out.

Also, Red Rocks Park to the west of V is a very nice drive but you can't really haul but there.

Bring a tank top and a dew rag and you'll fit right in.

Sounds like a good time.

Best BET: Ride through Escalante in southern Utah on the way through.

How long of a ride on a bike would that be? I was thinking about going to Vegas next year when I get back home. And would there be others willing to take that drive.

I just drove though there on a trip to San Diego and it was 12 hours of drive time doing 5-10 MPH over limit.

Ok its a done deal. This looks like its worth the price of a rear tire.

http://www.lasvegasbikefest.com/uploads/PHOTOS/Wet_0558.JPGI just may have to head out there for this. I'll bet that there are a few others thinking the same thing.

That 12 hours is running I-70 to I-15. Although it is all interstate, it is probably one of the most scenic runs of interstate in the U.S. Traffic is not too bad (like I-40). If you have an extra day to travel either there or back, I'd recommend going through the Four Corners region and then across the northern border of Arizona through Page- fantastic views and excellent roads. It is an easy run when you break it in half by staying at the Ute Mountain casino in Cortez (nice hotel/cheap price).

I drove through sturges a week ago, there were quite a few sport bikes around but then again I would say maybe they werent far from home either unless the trailer and truck came with.

Bike week in vegas is pretty sweet. I lived in vegas for 8 years. I can drive from Ft. Collins to Vegas in about 11 hours. 80-90mph. On a bike its up to you, but im sure you could get there faster. Im thinking about going this september.

Hell if I get left behind on the highways and I cruise at 5-10 over (sometimes)......then the additional 5 should still be behind the pace.
