replacing the stator cover

hey so now that i have to replace this broken piece of crap that seems to break on everyones bike when it goes down, anything i need to know in particular? it's an 03 954 rr. there is a little gear that runs with a gear inside the housing and i know i need to have that lined up more than anything. do i need to make sure it's lubricated, or just put the cover on and put the oil in? any help is appreciated don't want to screw up :)

nah i didn't drop the bike. we were on santa fe coming up to traffic at dartmoth, and then all of a sudden the kids in front of me stopped in the middle of traffic flow and i ended up braking hard an losing control.

damn you say it like i dropped it being dumb :lol:
