So I started the bike after about 3 months of sitting. As it was warming up, I noticed that there was a nice little puddle forming under the bike.

The oil was coming from behind the Slave Cylinder and was in fact motor oil.

I am kinda thinking like this....
Since my bike is a 2000, combined with the cold, what are the chances that the gasket was weak enough to not hold once the bike started to warm up?
Has anyone ever had this happen due to cold?
The bike has never had a leak before, but I am think that under the right conditions and age, something could go this way.. Right?

What kinda bike ya got? Those generic 2000 models are totally notorious for leaking....

Bullshit is what I say to that! Funny though..

I have a 2000 ZX7r.

might need a few new seals, not too many places it can leak from, engine cover, etc, might be a good time to throw on some woodcraft covers

I like the cover with some stainless for added grinding!

What you describe is possible I guess, but I've never seen it happen myself. Just like freezing and thawing cause cracks in roads, I'm guessing heating and cooling of the engine could cause seals to go bad on the bike. Certainly see if you can isolate where the leak is coming from.

New case covers aren't going to solve this problem, but if you want woodcraft bits make sure you contact Joe (jplracing on here) at Rebellion motorsports to get them. He's a supporter of the club and will offer you a super fair price on them.

Got it down to behind the Slave cylinder for the clutch. It flows out from where I can't see it too well and is hidden by a little flange.
No leak on top to see and none on the side or bottom..

I was thinking the same thing as far as seperation.. The motor was getting warm, and the gasket could have been a bit weaker from being old.. Everything on the bike is stock, and only the cover up top has been taken off for the valves.

Hey Joby - check your PMs. Most likely it is the push rod seal. They are known for going out on the zx7s.
