Post up your first bike, a pic or just what it was.

This is my first, 1981 Honda CB900C. 900cc's, air ride, 9500 RPM's, and 15 gears of maddness.

squid and proud of it :king:. Should I have bought it for a first bike? probably not, but I am glad I did! It is my love and joy. One day I may be able to ride it good, but till then I will just enjoy it at the level I can. when it is a possibility I want to pick up a 600 for track so I can actually improve my skill level too, that would be nice.

2004 Yamaha Road Star Midnight. It was lowered, had beach bars, engine guard, saddlebags, Rhinehart Exhaust, and a Thunder Tornado intake kit on it. It was a fun 1700cc V-Twin bike...but just not my thing I guess. Here are some pics of when I was trying to sell her.

Note the sleek italian styling
Loads of corning clearance
Brembo Drums
High tech air filter w/del Orto works carb
Latest Ohlin suspension
Marchesini chrome plated wheels version 1.0
Termi Chrome plated high flow exhaust
Schwinn Scorpion tires
Paint by Leonardo
Marketed by the motorcycle super importer "Montgomery Ward"

This was my first bike, a real dual sporter--dirt, road, mud, water, jumps, dirt track racing with Suzuki rotorvalve. Road the piss out of it. Had a thing for Italians every since, as you can see why.

'79 KZ750...with the wrong frame...I came to find out after the fact. But, I digress. She gave up the ghost in June '06 and I couldn't stand the idea of not riding, so I bought the Z750S, which is the updated version of the KZ.

Here's the KZ in Briggsdale where she finally broke down. That town's roads are all dirt roads. I had to walk the bike up a dirt road from off the county road it died on for about 4 blocks before someone told me to stop and set a spell. Good peeps out there, though. That ATV trailer is some guy's who just happened to know the ladies who told me to stop walking the bike. A complete stranger drove me and my dead bike all the way back home to Loveland, which was about 50 miles.

LOL,
I'm there with chad23 on the mini. My budy and I re-built one (see: stole a used lawnmower engine) when we were 8 or so.
Gaduated to a Honda CT70 (with centrifical clutch) later that year.
(Family toy the parents got us after the horse trashed the neighboors cornfield for the last time and got sent off to the glue factory.)
http://www.paradisecycles.com/Images/Image92.jpg

Couple dirtbikes later my first street bike was a '70 Yamaha R5 when I turned 16.
Still have it, but unfortunetly I wasn't nearly as kind to it as Dirk is to his stable.
6748

But pieces of it made there way into a '74 RD350 project, so she lives on in spirit.

Have you done any performance mods, SP?

Love those old RD350/400s. My first street riding was done on a buddy's RD400. They sure made the racers on CB750's stand up and notice back then. :)

I don't know what it is about the Hawk that's so tough but I think I'll have to put one in the garage at some point.
Hey Dana, did you ever scope for a new engine for yours? Probably not the easiest surplus to find huh?

Very hard to find a good working, unmolested NT650 motor. They have been raced to hell or left outside to rot. I gave up on her and I am now parting her out to help pay for my 600RR.

That's kind of what I thought. So sad. I know that's not the first time I've said that but it's sad enough to say again. I really liked that bike.
Least it's donating organs for a good cause.

I had a bunch of bikes I wish I still had. This '67 Suzuki 50 (my first), a '70 Hodaka Ace 100, a '72 Harley Davidson (Areomachi) Leggero 65, and a '74 Kawasaki H2 500 to name a few. And, notice the cool, but worthless, Bell Helmet.:) Amazingly enough, when I sold that bike it had never been on its side and I to was injury free...must have been all the protective gear I am wearing:bs:

I'll skip my early dirt-bikes (z50, CR85, etc) and go with my first Street bike:

1992 Honda CBR600F2 Super Sport Red/White

Bought it from my friend (a Honda Master Tech) who suddenly *had* to have the then-new CBR900RR. The F2 had 148miles on it. I put 16k miles on it in the first year I owned it. Sadly, it ended up as a casualty of my early racing attempts in 1994. I've got old photos of it, but none scanned in.

Lol, I've also still got the upper center fairing/headlight surround as a picture frame. It's the only surviving piece of the bike.

Here's a Googled pic of the color scheme (though IIRC stock seats were red):
(Most F2s were the reverse, with white as the dominant color.)

...damn, I miss that bike. I had *so* much fun on that thing.

Nope. My parents said dirt bikes were too dangerous, even though dad had always had a dit bike. So, I didn't give up and they allowed me to get a 600cc street bike. I now have 6 screws and 2 pretty good scars. I'm going to get my kid a dirt bike as soon as they can ride a bicycle and if they want one.
