Hey Gang,

I moved to here from Maryland where i was part of the dcsportbikes.com board. I have been riding since i was 18 and i started a 1985 GPZ-750 and rode 250's for a while after that.

I'm now running a 2004 Yamaha R6 and loved it till i came here. I have been modding to reclaim the power lost from altitude. Love the state, love the people, can honestly say it's the best decision i have made with no regrets. It was nice that work could transfer me out here

Just looking for some good peeps to ride with from time to time on the weekend. Mom rode a 2004 Suzuki GSXR 600 and step father rode a 2002
Suzuki GSXR 1000, brother rode an older Kawi ZX6 that we fixed up for while till his accident and hasn't rode since.

Feel free to msg me. i'm in the federal heights area till end of july then i'm moving to the Thornton down the street. Looking forward to meeting people at the meet this Sunday.

Mike

Hey All!!

I'm not really a totally new member here...just returning. Back in 2001 I joined up as "Dave", or something like that, right after buying a brand spanking new white and red 01F4i. As I got to know more and more riders in my area (Ft.Collins) I joined an additional club, Colorado Front Range Sportbike Riders. As many here know that club has been undergoing lots of transition and challenges over the years including low membership so...in order to stay connected and a part of the scene I'm rejoining CSC (Never leaving CFRSR though...too many good memories).

I currently ride a lightly modified red 98 Superhawk...still have the ole' F4i but it's now a highly modified "Streetfighter" that my middle son rides. I'm glad to back and I hope there are at least some of my old friends still here but I'd be just as happy to make some new ones.

Close, PG county area, that's route 301 in the background at the bowie science and tech center. I loved hanging out there in the evening on friday and saturday, people would pass by all the time pulling wheelies.

Hello all, my name is Todd and I am new to the forum. I came here looking for other people to meet and ride the canyons with.

I have been riding for 20 years since I bought my first bike...1989 FZR-400. 9 bikes and 120,000 miles later and I still don't have the canyon bug out of my system!

Hello all...

I'm Jared and joined a week ago. Met some of you at the recent new member meetup at Christi's place. Been riding since 2006 but rarely with others so I'm looking forward to some group rides. I've traveled for work in the past but now I'm local so I can actually do things here.

I've been quite fickle with my bikes but I'm very happy with the new one.

Past bikes:

2006 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 DC
2009 Ducati Monster 696
2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796
2012 Ducati Monster 1100EVO

Here is the 1100EVO when it was at Fay Myers on unveiling day with my kid.

Whoops, looks like I skipped this part. Welp, here I am.

Hi, my name is Jeff and I like to ride. I recently picked up a 2006 Duc S2R 1000.

Riding began at 21 years of age, way back in 2003 when I picked up a brand new SV650S after taking the MSF course in California. I lived in Avila Beach (San Luis Obispo area) at the time. Riding on the central coast of CA was amazing. There was always a great road. I often traveled north to the SF Bay area, and more often down south to the famous hills of the Malibu area. I definitely miss riding there.

From there I moved to San Francisco. After 4 years with the SV, I sold it and, with the blessings of my wife, purchased a 2007 Ducati Multistrada 1100S. I used that bike to tour the state, ride the hills, and commute to/from work in San Francisco. In 2008 we moved to Denver, and a year later I sold the bike when I had my son.

After 18 months of baby, and no bike, I fell in love with a newspaper ad. It was stalking me day after day from the classified section. Over days and weeks, I would slyly bring it up in conversation with my wife. And said conversations were gone as soon as they came in. After a while of bringing it up, the talkings got more serious. Finally, my plan worked and she told me to go check it out. I went to see the bike, loved it, and purchased it a few days later.

The S2R had been babied, loved, tastefully modded, and babied. I purchased the bike with about 6,600 miles, which means I need to put a lot more on the bike. I'm looking to get a lot of riding in this summer, and come to love the mountains as I did the hills all over California.

Cheers.

They were bad ass. Light weight and looked kick ass but if I could have done it over I would have bought marchesini instead of carrozzerias. Those particular carrozzerias had some bearing issues and made a little noise.

Hey Folks I'm Bryan i live in Bayfield aka Bayberry which is 20 mi east of Durango. i started riding when i was 8...mainly dirt bikes, enduros and dual sports. My last bike was a Honda XR 650L and recently traded it in for a 2007 R6. The only reason i can think of why i haven't converted to sportbikes before is that someone/something was looking out for me and made me wait til I matured enough so i wouldn't kill myself. One thing i have to admit to is that i HAD a harley 1200 custom...i'll leave it at that....but that was long ago.

I have been riding for literally a week and a half and I absolutely LOVE it!

I am no stranger to speed since I also own a 2004 Dodge SRT-4 putting out over 450hp which has handed quite a few 600's their butt.

Hope to see some of you on the 17th at Christi's.

Hello All!!
My name is: Robert
Location: Aurora
Bike: 2000 Honda RC51

Hey Folks I'm Bryan i live in Bayfield aka Bayberry which is 20 mi east of Durango. i started riding when i was 8...mainly dirt bikes, enduros and dual sports. My last bike was a Honda XR 650L and recently traded it in for a 2007 R6. The only reason i can think of why i haven't converted to sportbikes before is that someone/something was looking out for me and made me wait til I matured enough so i wouldn't kill myself. One thing i have to admit to is that i HAD a harley 1200 custom...i'll leave it at that....but that was long ago.

Cheers!

Welcome to the CSC!

Ciao,

Yo, I'm Jason, I'm 29, I LOVE speed, and by speed I mean going fast and not the drug! I call myself rangergixxer because I served in the 3rd Battalion/75th Regiment, Ranger out of Benning, and I have pretty much always ridden a gixxer since I was 16.

I ride a 92' Gixxer 1100 right now, but I'll be getting something newer next year, probably a 2000 and up ZX-14 or Hayabusa. I've got lots of work done to my bike so it is MUCH faster than stock, although I don't push it as much as I used to.

So, if anyone ever wants to go for a ride on a Monday or Tuesday afternoon, let me know, I live in Lakewood. I'm down for just about anything, but it HAS to be on a Monday or Tuesday.

I was also planning on hitting up Bandimere for some drags soon, so if you want to join then get a hold of me.

Best way to get a hold of me is by sending me a message specifically, because I don't have internet, so my browsing capabilities are limited right now. :sniper:

Heya...
I am a new/returning member to the board. I did far more reading here than posting a few years back, but would like to be more involved this time around. Last time I was here I had a 2000 ZX-6R which was stolen a few years back. As of yesterday I *finally* got a new bike ('11 Busa) and am super excited to be back in the saddle riding again. Hoping to meet some folks around the Boulder area and maybe head out on some group rides.

Cheers~

Hello, my name is Andrew and I am a motoholic. I gues it started when I sold my mercedes for a cheap 250cc fix. Since then it has been a steady progression. After about two years, 250cc's wouldn't get me the high I was used too. I found myself searching the dark reccesses of craigslist, crumbing the floor for something more. Till one day, I was in a dispensary (motorcycle showroom) and found the perfect blend for my needs at the time. This was in 2008 when I took my first shot of juice. It was a little intimidating at first, not used to the strength of my new found drug. But the rush had me trying more and more. Now it's 2011 and though my dosage is still quite satisfying, I do find myself wondering what a more purified strain might have to offer. (I ride a ninja 650r, thinking of going supersport) But with this new setting and environment the thrill of exploration is still there while using my usual amount. Though some guidance through this new reality would be appreciated. Cause we all know that frequent useing alone is the first sign of a problem. I'd rather be a social addict than one who goes on solo binges. What if something happened!? Who would snap me back to reality. :silly:

My name is Kaze. I'm new to this forum and to riding. I'm not sure why I waited so long but after having my life turned upside down recently, I decided I need to stop living my life for others and start living it for me. I just finished up the ABATE class a couple weeks ago, and recently picked up a 2011 Yamaha FZ8. Last time I rode prior to this was some 20yrs ago screwing around with friends on dirtbikes down by chatfied reservoir (grew up here).

My name's Rich, just got into riding about two weeks ago. Took the MSF course with Marc and he recommended I join up with some fellow sport bike enthusiasts. Been riding almost every day after work and practicing slow maneuvering. Just starting to learn cornering after watching a great vid called Twist of the Wrist Vol. II. It was pretty corny at times but very informative, definitely recommended for new and old riders. Looking forward to riding with you.

Hey - I'm not sure if there are many (if any) of you on the western slope, but I'm out by Palisade. I've been riding off & on for ~9 years. I'm really more of a cruiser type, but only because I'm not sure I trust myself with a sport bike :), however my wife likes the ride of a sport bike much better so that is what we're saving for now. I got downgraded when my last bike got jacked from a parking lot, but I'll be back on something decent soon. Right now I'm almost done getting my giant scooter fixed up & ready to sell (if anyone is looking for a beginner bike for wife/kid/friend/etc.) and it gets me around for now.

Greetings everyone!

You can call me Nex for short. Or Sam.

Now that I'm all activated and such figured I'd better post up in here. I popped out to the '11 BBQ for a little bit (I had the Kawi Green 650r ninja), first off wanted to say thanks for the warm welcome there and the food.

I picked up my bike earlier this year and really enjoy it. I like pretty much every kind of riding I've done so far (Pleasent valley up to 285 is so far my favorite), I-70 out to the Western Slope, city@night, etc. I'm hoping to hit up some Highway 40 early next month if things at work look like I can.

I'm a programmer by trade specializing in web technologies on a LAMP stack. I have done quite a variety of things ranging from surface blasting (dynamite is fun stuff) to facilities maintenance.

I'm looking forward to these rides, though I'll need to practice up on the group-riding thing a bit. I've only got 3000 miles on two-wheels-- almost all of those are solo. I've had it since April (got it a week after my ABATE class at ACC)!

-Nex

Pleasent valley up to 285 is so far my favorite

You mean Pleasant Park. This (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Pleasant+Valley+Colorado&hl=en&ll=40.198773,-105.076289&spn=0.022355,0.038109&sll=39.516755,-105.242844&sspn=0.090315,0.152435&vpsrc=6&t=h&z=15) is Pleasant Valley, and a few others that don't really have roads. ;) Try CO Road 126 to Deckers if you ride mostly south. Here's two of my basic lists, the first excludes Deckers because the OP didn't want to go there.

Other road lists are as follows... South of I-70 (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showpost.php?p=596251&postcount=2) in the Denver frontrange. North of I-70 (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showpost.php?p=596257&postcount=6) is what I frequent the most. Also this thread (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41072) has some information regarding central Colorado if you're planning a big trip.

Cheers.

I joined after meeting some great people on the ride to Estes put together by Vellos on Sunday. That was my first group ride, and I had an ear to ear grin all day even though majority of the ride home was in the rain.

I am a new rider. I took the MSF class and then I picked up a Pearl White/Black 07 600RR and have about 2,200 miles in the 2 months I have had it. Looking forward to many more CSC rides in the future.

Hey all,

I just discovered this board through google searches the other day and decided to join. I'm in Denver near Sloan's Lake and currently own a few bikes. I primarily ride a 2007 cbr600rr but also own a 1984 Magna v30 and a Yamaha yz250. I'm looking to join on group rides, attend bike nights and even meet some new dirt riders to ride with as well.

Cheers!

That's the difference between getting a bike at 20, and getting one at 31, I know I am breakable. When we hit Central City Raceway, I was hauling ass by my standards and I rounded a corner and could see just how far ahead Drunktank was after a relatively short distance. I realized I need to survive a few more years if I ever want to be able to keep up with him. He wasn't bike lengths ahead, he was freight train lengths ahead. Besides, I would rather be talked about as the slow guy than the dumbass who out rode his skills and trashed himself and bike.

Sup Gents,

Charlie here... Just moved out to Fort Collins a few days ago... I originally grew up in Orange County, California... Spent 9 years in the Marine Corps, 6 of which I lived on Oahu in Hawaii, the last 3 in Coeur D Alene, ID.... I've raced with HRRA in the past and have owned bikes spanning most of the spectrum.. Currently riding a 2007 MV Agusta F4, and looking for good roads and riding partners ;P Since I've exited the service I'm starting my masters in comp sci in January. Looking forward to meeting some of you gents ;P

Nice another Marine to the group! Welcome!

Been hanging around but finally got all my stuff together and am ready to do some real riding. Yeah it's late in the season but I hope to get at least a track day in or two.

I've been riding since 14 (34 now) and in the last 6 years or so have gotten incredibly addicted to track riding. Not to say I'm a seasoned pro, I've only been 6 or 7 times but haven't equalled that type of fun on two wheels ever. My first track experience was Jason Pridmore's Star School which was an amazing intro. All my street and track riding experience has come from the central coast of California so the Colorado weather and road conditions are taking some getting used to.

I mentioned hitting the track (HPR) and am aiming for either the 3rd or 7th of October. Still crossing my fingers for good weather. I haven't been on a racetrack in over two years now so I'm bound to be a bit rusty. Anyway, hoping to meet a few of you out there.

Spent a few years in the past corner marshalling for the MRA, and watch AMA/SBK/MotoGP like most ill informed people watch and follow football. I like long walks on the beach, and Im also into twisties and long rides through canyons and moutain passes(this weekend went from manitou to florissant, florissant to guffey, guffey to canon city and back up to the 719 in honor of 9/11.... not LONG by any means persay, but plenty of fun all the same). I want to try a track day once I can get some extra coin to pick up a set of approved leathers/etc. Plan to switch the exhaust to the Delkevic mini shortly, re-jet it for the alt and possibly gear it, along with some custom touches to the paint and possibly some flatter bars(we'll see). And yes, its a sportbike damnit. sport touring actually :)

Hehe, nice. I had a 99 Red/Black F4 from 1999-2009, used it for everything from the track to my DD for a while, best bike I ever owned out of a slew of CBRs.

Look for the various meetup threads, the next big one is the Fay Myers/Walnut Room one tomorrow night, should be a group of CSCers heading to it...

Figured i'd introduce myself since i'm new to this board (and pretty new to CO since moving here in February)

Name is Matt Owen and ride a 2003 Yamaha R6...bought it in August of 2006 with 300 miles on the ODO and currently have 26,000 on it. I havent ridden as much lately as i'd like but hoping to fix that before the snow hits.

Currently live at the intersection of Alameda and Havana (oasis on the highline) so i'm sure i'm close to many of you.

Oh, and i'm 25...

I'm currently on my work computer and Photobucket is blocked so hopefully this works to post some pics...i'm just going to copy/quote a thread in my other forum and see if that'll work! The pics wont show up on my end so i guess we'll see!

Heres how she sits currently...when i bought it, it was the black/silver model with black wheels

There are alot of bikes in Aurora. Lot of squids though too! I know there are alot of night meetups around Tower and Hampden, but I never roll through there. Ive heard too many stories about stupidness with those guys. Would be nice to have a place for the non-squids to kick tires some nights though. Especially since the canyons are pretty much off limits during the week for anyone in Aurora with a 9-5 job. By the time you'd get there after work, its dusk already.

So in accordance with forum edict I'll post up here first so all can know me.

My name is Dave and I ride a 2007 Honda 919. Got into riding from my father-in-law in 2004 and bought my first bike in 2005. My first bike was an 1967 Norton Atlas. She needed more time and money than I had at that time to make her rideable so I sold her. I turned around that same day and bought a 1981 Kawasaki GPz550. Man I loved that bike. I owned it for a year before I sold her. I sold the Kawi because of a 30mi highway commute. I didn't think it was fair to push a 30 year old bike to the max at 75mph everyday.I sold it in December of 09 and bought the 919 in March of '10.

I just wanted to join up to find more local people to enjoy rides with. Here are some pics of the bikes I owned/own and a recent trip to the top of Pikes Peak.

I cam across this page by following the Abate of Colorado website and thought it was hella cool to have a place for bikers to meet up and go on rides. I am a fairly new rider and just got my endorsement in July from Abate. I live up in Frederick and ride a 2003 ZX9R. I'm always looking for new tips to riding and meeting up with new people. I finally just got done doing my first full trip up in the mountains and got to say that was a fun experience. Would like to do it more and find more people to ride with as well.

The garage in your pics look familiar, did you use to have a Seca II? If so, I believe I've been to your place to check out the Seca lol :batman:.

Nope that wasnt me... My dad used to have a SecaII a LONG time ago, but the pic of it in the garage is actually the origional pic I got of it from the guy I bought it from.

Hello all,

I'm from Brisbane Australia where I worked professionally riding mOtorbikes everyday for Australia post. I also had a 00' cbr600f, and before the a Suzuki across. Been riding for around 15 years (Dirtbike riding when I lived outbush). Currently don't have a bike, and it's killing me, specially with the beautiful weather we have been having in Denver for the past 2 months.

Hi everyone,

My name is Bryan. I'm a new rider from the Colorado Springs area. I purchased an '06 Suzuki SV650S a little over a month ago and have been riding, almost always solo, as much as possible since I got it. I know the seasons are starting to turn nasty, and I'm still working on getting all the gear to keep riding as comfortably as possible once it gets really cold. But I'm looking to join some group rides to help develop my skill and explore this awesome state we live in. I'm glad I found this forum and can't wait to meet you on the road. :)

How's it going everyone!

My name is Matheo and I ride a K7 GSXR 1000. Started riding back in 2004 on a 98 ninja 250. Spent a year learning on her, then moved up to a CBR 600RR back in 2005. Kept her for 2 years and sold her when I got out of the military and moved back to Colorado. Picked up my GSXR 1000 2 months back, got a great deal and she was in great shape and bone stock when I got her. Looking forward to chatting it up with local guys/gals and possibly riding/meeting some of ya as time goes on. Bike is pulling double duty as a drag bike/street bike. Looking into snagging a 600 for track days this winter possibly as well!

Few pics of the K7 1000

When i picked her up

Agreed, but I'm not diggin the swing arm extension being that far out. I am assuming that is for drag racing purposes?

I'm not huge on the stretched swing arm either. But it sure did grow on me after watching that Nick Brocha vs RX7 video. Link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYpOFimB7ZA)

That GSXR must be loud as hell with the M4 on it?

His swing arm wasn't as long as the one on the GSXR!

Hahah, I know. I actually don't like the look of it to much either, but it serves its purpose. The bike saw bandimere weekely while it was open.

Yea, the M4 can get pretty damn loud, but you get used to it after a while

Don't listen to the nay-sayers, I like the extension. What other mods does it have?

What's your best time at Bandimere?

This is my first post on the forum, I just wanted to say a quick hello to all! I am new to CSC, and new-ish to CO, but I have to say I'm loving every minute of it. I am currently shopping around for good off-season deals so no bike yet.

I do have a question maybe others could help me with; perhaps this is not the best place to post it. Having looked around craigslist and other places, I have found two bikes that seem promising. One is a practically new but 3 year old Ducati monster 696 that has a salvage title due to a tip-over from the kickstand bolt breaking. Great deal on the price. The other is an '07 Yamaha R6 in good shape, and again a really sweet deal.

I have been riding motorcycles for a long time, mostly dirtbikes for many years KX250s and others, then a DRZ 400 for a few years on the street, and have also put quite a few miles on my dad's Triumph Bonneville ('04) over the last 4 years.

My question is this: While I am not a newbie rider, I have never owned a sportbike before, and am looking to purchase something outside of the enduro or standard/cruiser realm. Of the bikes I mentioned above the monster doesn't concern me a whole lot, but the R6 has a very different feel to it and is obviously a much more powerful bike than even the 800cc triumph. Do you feel this would be a poor choice for someone moving over to sportbikes?

I am not looking to purchase either of these bikes to look cool or be seen or to show off or otherwise be the ubiquitous squid in any way. They just happen to feel relatively comfortable, are well built, happen to look nice, and also happen to be for sale for amazing prices. I would probably not lose anything if I sold them down the line. In all honesty, I'll never be the type of rider to push a bike to its limit or even try and get a knee on the pavement. I am looking for something that handles crisply, has reasonable power, and some character. The bonneville was a bit upright and mushy feeling, but a fun bike. Please let me know your thoughts!

It'll only go as fast as your throttle hand gives it permission to do so. I don't care for Ducati's but that is just a personal choice. The R6 will be a less comfortable on longer rides. I am really a fan of the SV's and the Kawi EX 650r I just picked up has turned out to be a great street ride for me and comfortable with the more upright riding position. I really like the "twins" over the I-4's but again that is a personal preference. You might look at the Triumph sportbikes they are pretty popular.

Yeah ultimately I'd like to get a speed triple. I have ridden these before and are a very nice smooth bike with an even powerband. Never been on the daytona or the street triple.

Yeah! Looks like I finally passed the background check.....
(j/k, it just took awhile for me to be able to post)

I'm Brenda from Colorado Springs. My husband talked me into taking the MSF courses in 2007, and we bought a Yamaha FZ6 shortly after.
Great little bike, but the hand buzz and the fact I could not lower it much lead me to a 2010 FZ1. Yahoo!

But since the calendar now says fall/winter and 2 outta four bikes have been prepped for hybernation.....I hope to see some of y'all on the roads in the spring

and thanks to Clovis for telling me about this forum
