cerebus
Fri Feb 23rd, 2007, 09:13 AM
Cerebus is a new member that's been riding on the street since '73 and on the dirt since '03, when Cerebus' son was old enough to ride beside Cerebus. Cerebus likes all kinds of riding, especially touring--Cerebus and The Boy rode to Key West last year in a bit over a week, and did the Kessel run in under NINE parsecs (Cerebus thinks Han Solo's a pussy who should let someone who knows how to fly take out the Millenium Falcon). Cerebus commutes on a bike to work in Fort Collins year-round and the recent weather up here nearly drove Cerebus nuts, a short trip to be sure. Cerebus is glad it's dry enough to ride again.

Cerebus likes comping, hunting, fishing, wrenching, musicing, and working in the shop. Cerebus lives close to the Moto Haus and hopes to make some of the Thursday nights there. Cerebus hopes to see some of you on some rides soon!

Fri Feb 23rd, 2007, 04:22 PM
The Sortarican welcome the Cerebus.

The Sortarican fears the Suki and the Sully.
When the Sortarican was a small child the Suki and the Sully attacked his village.
They brought death and destruction; stampeding the women, raping the cattle. The sortarican still wakes up screaming some nights.

The Sortarican also fears Bob Dole. But for other reasons.

Well howdy to all. I just moved out to the area last September and wrecked my bike in October. Now I am all healed up got myself another bike. Strangly it is the same type and year as my wrecked one just red not blue. Btw my bike is a 2006 FZ6. I got this site from one of the guys at the stealership. I would really like to get on some rides up into the mountains. Around town its just like home (northwest suburb of Chicago) I need some Twisties.

Heya CSC. Glad I found this forum!
Name's Gary. Ride a "brand new" '03 VTR1000. Wife, 2 strapping lads, construstion supply company manager, drummer, like to party down a bit and (despite being pretty green to street biking) am in love with riding!
I especially love to ride in flip-flops, shorts and go very, very fast in a straight line. I occasionally enhance this experience with a few shots. Before anyone lectures me about protection, don't worry, I got it covered...I always, always make sure to use plenty of spf 45 so's I don't get a nasty sunburn.
Akay, akay, jus' kidding. Seriously though, I invested in good gear, like I said, green...but here to learn and not in a hurry either!
Thanks for having me. I look forward to learning and growing as a rider among you folk.

Take care.

Hmm I just found this thread so I guess ill post..

Thats my ride over to the left there <---- shes a 98 CBR F3 with a few tasteful mods (delicious!). I've been riding for about 10 years now and just moved back to CO from OH. Let me tell you - riding in Ohio, not good (unless you like going straight). Im up near Jeffco airport - my mail says I live in Broomfield but it damn sure looks like Westminster on the map to me. I also have a 2000 Audi S4 when I need to indulge my 4 wheel need for speed. I'm down with the AWD turbo scene! I'm easy to spot when i'm out - just look for the Alaska license plates...

Hi there-

My name is Jon and I live in Louisville. I just started riding street bikes last year. I started with a Kawasaki 250 Ninja and after 3500 miles upgraded to a Honda Interceptor. I've had lots of experience with recreational vehicles throughout my life. I had a little Yamaha GT80 dirtbike as a kid before we upgraded to 4-wheelers. I've also spent a lot of time on jet-skis and snowmobiles.

I'm looking forward to meeting lots of cool new people. While I do like to ride alone, I find I enjoy shring a ride with a friend even more.

See you guys on the newb ride!

Cheers,
-Jon

I missed this thread... i'll see if i can't get the topic i started deleted...

I forgot to do this last year when I registered... I've been lurking and since I've been posting and offering advice and coming off like I've been here for years, I figure I'd introduce myself...

I moved to Colorado in 1999 from Houston, Texas with a job transfer and with amazing roads to ride, I signed up for an MSF course...

With license in hand, and a few thousand bucks, my friends told me to head down to Erico and buy a used Honda CBR600. Next year I upgraded to a Speed Triple, probably prematurely, but I just kept putting miles on...

7 years later, still have great passion for the sport, its become part of my life... heck my wife has even gotten into scooters...

I've done an Iron Butt, I've done a track day or two, I've gone dual sporting, I've strapped a tent and lived off my bike for a week on a 3000 mile trip... at the end of the day my favorite type of riding is carvin' canyons with my friends...

I have yet to go on one of the CSC rides... but I'm hoping that will change...

Hi my name is the CoronaKOK, I was born in loveland went to high school then joined the military, I was stationed at NAS Lemoore, Ca. for my last tour, and have been riding a little bit of everything since I was around 5 years old. I got out as an E-5, and had alot of good "take their shirt off & give it to you" kinda friends I left behind there. We usaully posted up rides, and such on: valleystuntriders.com , it sounds like a bunch of stunt junkies, but that is not the case anymore. I been there done that with 600's, and 1K's all the stupid crazy stunts, to drag racing. I am into roadracing, & canyon carving now, and want to hook up with some fast mutha's that cant find anyone to keep up with you. Oh and I love to work on bikes, mods, fabricating & generally help out noobies to keep them rightside up & loving the sport. Hit me up on the telly (559) 212-7774, I am down to hit up some rides, & meet eveyone!

Anyway, welcome. Maybe some of the quicker guys will be introducing themselves soon.

I'm only fast when it comes to posting...ha!;)

Welcome back (again) kite. Here's how I see it. You're going to try to stir some folks up, they're going to get riled up and fight back and at some point it will come to a head and someone will A) get their feelings hurt B) get banned C) say something incredibly stupid and then D) get banned.

Our collective history with you isn't so good, so I think there is a lot of this riding on you to make it right. You've created a reputation here that you're going to have to figure out how to overcome. If you can pull it off good on ya.

Starting back with the "pet" stuff and trying to lure Brizz into an abrupt response so early in your return.....well let's just say my magic 8 ball isn't too optimistic about your staying power.

Assuming you have the proper credentials, license and such, the largest track in the area is probably Pueblo Motorsports Park, http://www.pueblomotorsportspark.com/pmiroad.htm which is maybe a couple hours south of Denver. There is a killer track out in Utah that you may already be aware of, http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/ but it's a bit of drive. There is a smaller go-kart track in the area called IMI, that some folks goof on, http://www.imimotorsports.com/ Other than those, it's kind of limited.

This is the organization that lots of folks here race with, http://www.mra-racing.org/

Welcome aboard.

Yeah, we saw what happened when you were a mod Brizz.

Dude I like you as a friend, but I'm going to be straight up on this: If you don't like the administration here, go buy a server, software, and a T1, and start your own board. Otherwise, shut the fuck up. This club is far from a joke (as evidenced by the constant rides, events, and other things that make it a club), it's only perceived as joke-like by the continuous drama being posted, which you've been perpetuating lately with your little jabs. If you have personal problems with someone, that's fine - take it up with them personally. However I am sick and tired of what have become several threads of crap directed at "site admins" just because you have nowhere better to vent your frustrations.

I understand you've had a shitty couple of years, and have been through some things nobody should ever have to - and I know this has put you on edge quite a bit. But Jon as your friend, I am telling you to grow up.

That's it.

Welcome. The previous post about tracks is correct, we've seen a big decrease in the number of facilities available to us here in the past couple years. There is a big effort on right now to get a new track built and we hope to be racing on it in 2008.

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to live I have a condo for sale in Aurora that has an extra large 1 car garage that's perfect for a car and bikes. I'll make you a good deal....promise!

Hey Pat, I'll make this my official welcome, so Welcome!;) So, have you signed up for your MSF course? Hmmm, my friend would suggest the Ninja250 for someone your size. She's got a 26-inch inseam and sits tip-toed on it. My suggestion would be to go out to the dealerships and just sit on as many bikes as possible and take notes on which ones make you feel comfortable. The more comfortable you feel, the more control you'll have...IMO.

Cathy has some great points...riding a bike is one thing, being able to park, u turn, hold it up at stop lights or panic stops is another. I have a couple girlfriends whose bikes have been dropped many a time because they had to stop quickly and didn't have the footing to hold the bike up afterwards (oh, and don't make the mistake of riding in heels to make up for it and then snaping an ankle).
Most any bike can be lowered by purchasing aftermarket suspension links (say, ~$300), however that will only drop it an inch and a half or so on average. A Ninja 250 or 500 is small, light, and easy for someone your size (or so I have heard, I am over 6' tall so I have no first hand knowledge). Also, SV650 is a lil torquey (think throttle control on launch) but a very forgiving yet still plenty powerful bike and not something you will outgrow...they are light, lack plastics to damage, and can be very easily lowered (I think the Honda 599 is very comparable to this).

Yea I know.

First, if you're finding yourself unable to post in the For Sale or Wanted forums it's because we require posters to have 15 posts in other forums before being able to create a new topic here. We do this to prevent the people who join just to sell things.

I'd like to introduce myself. Some of you from Coloradoracing.net and the old COSR may remember me. Years ago I drove a '95 Talon TSi AWD and I was quite active in the local (Colorado Springs) race and drag racing scene.

Three years ago (I am 25... 26 next month  ) I "settled down", got married to my wonderful wife, bought a house, sold the talon, got a ford taurus because its a "family car"... even though I lack the family.

Anyhow, ever since that time, I've missed going fast. For the past two months I had been looking at getting a new Subbie STI or bike and I actually piked up a brand new STI limited two weeks ago, but decided between the payments and doubled insurance cost, it was just more money then I was comfortable spending on a car.

With that in mind, it renewed my interest in getting a bike, purely as a toy. Incredibly, the insurance on an R1 is only $39/mo for full coverage, $500/deductable. I decided that I wanted something I can have fun with on the weekends.

But, an R1 for your first real bike? Good lord! Yeah, I've heard that an R1 isn't exactly the best first bike, but in all fairness usually the people I see asking if an R1 is a "good first bike" are incredibly young. I'm nearly 26, mature and have no desire for stunting. I just want a bike I wont outgrow. I'm also a bigger guy (married life! :) - 6'2 - 250lbs so I would probably bogg something like an R6 down.

Anyhow, I'm picking up the R1 tomorrow, either from Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza or Apex - Apex's bike price is slightly higher but their out the door price is about $157 less due to a lower tax rate and slightly less dealer fee (they reconize my house in Fountain as 3.9%, where as RMCP says 5.9% sales tax rate).

Since someone is bound to mention this, yes - I am buying all the appropiate gear - helm, gloves, jacket, boots.. pants? I figure upwards of $1000 for safety gear - Hey, I don't want to die or get road rash.

Thanks,

-Clovis

Hi All.
Allow myself to introduce...myself. "I'm Richy Cunningham and this is my wife Oprah".
Sorry... Austin Powers flashback.:slap:
I'm Doug Labout. I have been riding for over 20 years and my is my butt sore. I have a 2001 GSXR 1000 and a 2002 BMW R1150RT. I recently started doing Corner Marshal work with the MRA. I noticed a lot of the MRA members were also members here. I thought what the heck, I might make some more friends. It can be hard to get to know any of the riders when they are wizzing past your corner at 80mph. I'm planning on being at Hastings so I hope to meet more folks there.
On top of riding bikes I dabble in aviation. If you need safety wiring lessons I can help you there.
I look forward to chatting with you all.

So far enjoying the ninja it is a little different to ride than a v-twin. Use to having more torque and horsepower avalible quicker.

Well 250s like to be thrashed on - in fact, they demand it. Gotta love that angry sewing machine. They may not have the power but damn that 65mpg is nice, especially these days. Welcome to the board. :)

Hi guys just joined the forum after lurking on and off for a few months. I've been riding my 06 GSX-R 600 for over a year now and have about a years worth of experience before then. I live in Wellington and work in Fort Collins.

I normally ride the Poudre - Stove Prairie - Masonville - Horsetooth route on Sundays, and plan to go to IMI a few times this summer.

I've been lurking for months, waiting for somebody to invite me to the country club, since this is obviously the place where anyone who's anyone comes. But since that's not happening, I'm just gonna have to invite myself, so there.

My name is Margaret, and I have an unhealthy addiction to two-wheeled vehicles.

I'm Drew and I just moved to Colorado in Jan from St. Louis.

I've been riding a few years, and have a certain liking for gixxers. I'm currently on my 3rd Gixxer--01 GSXR 1000

I'm in the Vail area if anyone is ever looking to go ride.

Hello all. I'm new to the forums, but not totally new to riding locally.
I'm sure I've waved to some of you on the streets at some point.

My name is Sam, and I live+work in Denver and when not riding my Monster (okay, it's in the shop at the moment), I'll be racing/riding one of several bicycles.

Steve here, from Northglenn. I heard about this site through a couple of riders in Nederland---Andy, and Jay I think were there names (please reply if you see this, I want to hit up the track near IBM like we talked about). I used to ride all the time in my 20's and took a lot of years off when in the mountains, but I just found a good deal on a 04 Katana 750----I can't believe how well it handles after my last bike!! a 1983 GS1100 E !!! I'm hooked again!

B, it's not the bike that's make a rider...it's the ability to make the machine do what you want it to do.

Hello everyone. Just moved here from the dirty south, Louisiana. Very glad to be back in colorado (i lived here for a year when i was in high school.) I ride a naked blue SV650, lots of suspension upgrades. I'm hoping to find some good friends that will show me around the mountains. I've been to 10-11 trackdays at the NPR circuit near New Orleans... so I can't wait to ride the tracks in this area. I'm a decent photographer and i'd love to find a good location on a twisty road to take pics of any riders who want to be my mountain guide.

If you use facebook you can add me: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=508881784

I'm also looking for a part time job now if anyone knows of openings.

Well, it seems I am moving back to Denver. Again. And I thought Tex-Ass was hard to get away from :: chuckle ::

Anywho, I'll be back in Denver about Friday or so, with a new bike (2006 XB12R, stock-ish) my origional wife (1969 model Hottie, lightly massaged) and a new haircut (2007 US Army Basic Training doo- heavily modified)

Looking forward to riding the kinds of roads the Buell deserves- and if you happen to be in the area and ride close enough- you might even hear it laughing at me occasionally in the corners.

Rubber side down!
