Wtf, is with the "M" states, lol?

Wonder if it's a direct connection to where you lived when you learned to talk? I've picked up some Northern/Midwest dialect over the years but still predominately a Southie even though I left at a young age (tho I have been back thataways several times over the years).

I spent a good deal of my life living in states south of Kentucky. My accent only comes out when I am sinning Karaoke or when I am REALLY drunk.
