add a link

I just got a new rear spocket for my 01 Aprilia Falco, and was told it would fit with the old chain, Well it's about a link or two short. The chain and the original sprocket are pretty new and show no wear. I'm only going +2 from stock,which is only +1 from whats on there now.
stock is 16-41 it has 16-42 and i want 16-43
The question is:
Can I just add a link or two to the chain or do I need to replace the chain?
And where is there a good place here up north(loveland/ft.collins) to go?
