What is the setting for the pilot jet screw for my bike? It had terrible low end acceleration and when I cleaned the carb and removed the pilot screws they were set at 3,2.5,4 and 5 turns out ??

Dynojet says that 3 turns is what you want with their kit. This should work ok with the stock jetting too. Older FZs had some issues with needle jets ovalling out, so it the bike refuses to come off idle at full throttle at low rpm, that is a possible cause.

You can usually start at 2.5 turns and go from there. TFOGGuys is probably closer though.

carbs Synchronized? Is this done with a vacuum gauge?

It’s done with a mercury gauge. You may have to remove the tank to do it, so you’ll need to rig up some sort of auxiliary tank. If the bike idles good, the carb sync is probably okay. Jim is correct about the jet tubes wearing in older Mikuni carbs. The stock ones are brass and the bike will run very rich if they are worn, which is likely if your bike is high mileage. I got nickel plated replacements for my FZR from Factory Pro…kinda pricey at $96, but they will last much longer than the stock tubes.
