I believe it was to show the fans that his heart is still in motorcycle racing. He wore that helmet when he won the Mugello race.

Honestly, if you're that good at what you do, I say you can wear a shit stain scratch and sniff design helmet for all I care.

I dig the Abarth design M1 he had at Phillip Island. Cool design.

Every year Rossi donates gear and it is auctioned off on e-bay. The money goes to children's charities. It raises many thousands of dollars. Last year the money was for a children's hospital.
