Just wanted to give a shout out to Scott and DK for their time and know how. They hook me up with helping and teaching me about installing bodywork. Those two KNOW what their doing when it comes to bodywork. They really came thru and showed a first timer how to do it.

The last pic is of Siobhan being a big help also.....LOL

I may be doing this soon with e-racing fairings…

How hard was it to install? Did you do a lot of cutting/pushing/pulling? Are you happy with the quality? Any hints or recommendations for people about the installation? Did you use the stock bolts for the fairing-to-bike connections and the 1/2 turn (?) fasteners for fairing-to-fairing connections? I wan to know it all!:lol:

Diego,

The E-Racing stuff seemed pretty good. It's not the easiest set of bodywork I've ever put on, but not the hardest either. Take some time and try to fit it up without fasteners first and make sure things line up well.

On RedFlash's bike we used the stock bolts for fairing to frame and 1.4 turns for fairing to fairing, but really there isn't any need to do it that way. Using wellnuts and small bolts works just as well, and costs less, it just doesn't look as cool. For trackdays and MRA racing there is really no need for the 1/4 turns, the lowers only really come off once a weekend unless you have some issues.

RedFlash is planning on continuing to use his bike as a streetbike, so we make some cuts to allow for things like the kickstand to stay on. Also, he chose a unique exhaust system, so we had to do some cutting to make that work out.

Fit and finish of the bits was average, but the only stuff I've seen that was much better cost a lot more money. The fiberglass on the E Racing stuff is a little too thick and it made using the 1/4 turns more challenging than it should have been, again the stuff I've worked with that's better is 2X the money, so if you don't mind doing a little extra work then these are a good value.

It took us about 4 hours from stock body work to the end result you see in the picture.

My pleasure Diego.

My only recommendation is to at least get an extra pair of hands involved. Having someone to hold something in place while you measure or drill is a big big timesaver.

Shit, still deciding between getting my old fairings modified for track use (cover head light holes and fix the cracks, then paint) and getting new "stock style" farings for the street.
Or maybe sticking with my street farings shity as they are, and just getting something new for the track (e-racing).

:cry: I'm like a little girl...can't decide!

Any ideas on where te check for stock fairings? (did check e-bay... nothing right now).

Good job guys, looks nice.
Talked a little with DK Sunday and it sounded like there wasn't anything insurmountable with the install.

I was online looking for a set and what should pop up on ebay with 17 minutes left but a set of Sharkskinz in really good shape.
So I'm a proud owner of a set of race skins for the R6.

I'm quickly running out of excuses for not getting into racing.
(Thank God I still have the fact that I'm slower than a turtle on valium to fall back on.)

Now to figure out a paint scheme for 'em.

Based on the tales I've heard of your track experiences Scott, I don't know whether to be encouraged or frightened by that statement.

Maybe next season, after a lot more practice on the track.
If nothing else I'll make everyone else feel good about themselves.
(Does the MRA give out a trophy for consistently coming in last? Cause if they do that puppy is mine.)

There are FAR many others on here who've had more crashes, ie human speedbump, etc... no one else can at least say they were racing WITH Bostrom and only broke a dang pinky!

Oh... and I'm racing that R6 this year... I have FAR more respect in how it was put back together; probably in better shape than when it came over from Japan.
