sponsorship campaining

So being my first year racing and not being able to make all the races this year should i even start campaining for sponsorship or wait till next year till i have a portfolio?

I started in October of last year and worked through the winter. Getting sponsorships isn't very hard, but getting good sponsorships is. Having some results will help a lot in the industry. Having relationships with people will help with the people outside the industry. Getting products or good product discounts isn't too hard, but getting cash money is a real challenge.

The hardest part will be deciding which sponsorships you will actually "need" At 1st you want anyone who will take you.. then you learn that you are advertising for a company you dont actually use or need... Select companies that provide value to you and in turn you provide value to them. In turn do your best to send business to them... After all thats the goal... U make them money and they save you money...

+1 Get every sponsor you can the first season. Last year I only had Faster Motosports, Michelin/Vanmar, and Monster Energy. After you put in a year of racing, and depending on how you finish, it will be great help in picking up sponsors for the following year. Send me a PM if you have any questions about going for sponsorship.

And like RYBO said, as soon as the season ends start applying for sponsorship. Nothing makes them more upset then getting requests only a month prior to the season. Getting it all sooner will result in better options. EXAMPLE: I got denied from a sponsor cuz all there spots we already filled. This was in December of last year.

dont tell them you are going to set the world on fire and win every race. even if you are capable of doing so.

be honest. let them know how many races you will be attending. they will be looking for a full season. tell them about yourself in your resume.

its all about how you present yourself. think of ways you can advertise for them at the track..

dont say you expect XXX.XX amount of money or free product in your resume.
