Sharing some New Mexican tradition- Zozobra

In Santa Fe, they burn this 49 foot puppet annually (now for 80 years).

I was expecting more of a good explosive fire.. I was dissapointed. They took too long to light the bastard too.. he was flapping around growling for a good 20 mins then a Klan member started dancing around him w/ road flares.. I really wonder about this little ritual they have..

Yeah but watching it on the net and actually being there in person is a totally different experience. You couldn't see most of the firework display that they had going on.
