trip 1/2 odo resets overnight (03 r6)

so i just replaced my left crankcase cover (the one with the alternator attached to it) and now every time i leave my bike off for a long period of time it resets my trip 1 and trip 2 odometers to zero. if anyone knows what the cause/solution of this problem is please fill me in.

battery terminals?
weak battery?
loose instrument cluster connection?

i think it was due to a weak battery, seems to have fixed itself. thanks for the quick response.
