Need I say more?

I know this weekend there's a trip out to Utah, but if you're looking to take a long ride for a day and you're not going to Utah, then lemme know.:)

I'd love to make this ride but there's no way in Hell I'd make it up there that early.
(Planning on getting damaged Saturday night.)

Post up your expected route and maybe we can meet up somewhere points west.

I've got lots of friends further South of me, so I can change up the meeting spot to the Diamond Shamrock in Lyons and maybe push the start time to 10 a.m....but that's pushing it;-) It's a long ride.

So, here's a snapshot and it can change to meet the needs of the group...I can bend, just don't try to break me;-)

Trail Ridge to Grand Lake
Grand Lake to Granby
Granby to Kremmling
Kremmling through Gore Pass to Toponas
Toponas to Steamboat
Steamboat to Poudre Canyon

Like I said, it's a long-ass ride. We'll need to be a tad coordinated in that when one person stops for gas, we all get gas. If anyone wants to stop for a photo op, then it had better be a spectacular op...maybe a roadside historical marker or something. Oh and lunch will probably be a tad after the noon hour if we don't stop in Grand Lake for lunch.

How's that?

Cuz you know you wanna do this!

Oh and Jeffy? Yeah, um just pretend you're in a far-off land far, far away as we wander through Grand Cty. Um, but on a somber note...were you given orders to stay out of there, or you just trying to stay away "just in case"?

do you still plan on doing our annual sometime in august??

Sure, but for me, it's not an "annual". I'm just a 30-minute ride away and when I want to really escape, that's the road I take...so, I'm up there as many as 4 times a month during the time that it's open.

I just thought I could use some company this Sunday. And who better to call on, than my pals here? :-)

Judge said if I get nailed for anything in the next year he'd make a point of reinstating the other 89 days he suspended on my sentence.
Two more weeks and it'll be a year.

I'll have to get back to you on that one. I haven't done the mileage yet. I may change up the meeting time/place as well, but give me a day, ok.

Ha ha....whatever, Chad...but I hope you have fun and ride safe, k...cuz I'm gonna be dragging you out through the hills when you get back.

Ok, so here's what I have as far as mileage and timing is concerned.

Miles = ~330 with a Lyons starting point and a FoCo ending point
Time = be in Kremmling for lunch around 1 p.m. if we leave Lyons at 10 a.m. and be in FoCo around 7 p.m. at the very latest.

The route and timing can change depending on photo stops of course and how long lunch will take. I took a look at the sticky in the Canyon Carving section for places to eat in Kremmling and looks like no one has ever done that, so looks like we'll be the guinea pigs. I've checked google for restaurants and there's a few of them up and down hwy40 through the middle of town.

Hope that answers some questions.

I will have to let ya know for sure on saturday. There are several factors coming in to play. I have a friend moving in with me saturday, and if that happens then she may ride with me sunday but we will probabably turn around at lunch or something. If something comes up and she doesnt make it saturday, then I will probably do the whole ride. I will let ya know saturday though for sure!

^bumpity --- for meeting time change in first post.

Ok flytarget...well, if you can make it, you can make it...if not, there's always more rides.

Oh and Jen? There's gonna be some scenery on this ride that you are gonna love. Make sure to bring your camera and extra batteries;-)

Sooo...how was today's ride? Um...wow!

We started out with a slow ride up to Estes via hwy34, cuz there were lots of people going up to the hills today. Meh, that was fine since today's ride was gonna be more about scenery and pictures than getting from one place to another. Yep, I decided to shorten it a tad. It was a good thing, since I haven't really ridden long distance yet, and I wanted to also stop and enjoy the beauty.

We made up to the top of Trail Ridge quite nicely and stopped first at the Forest Canyon Overlook.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/forestoverlook.jpg

It was pretty cool up there, both in views and in temps. But, we wanted to do at least one stop along the way to stretch our legs a bit...
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/3blackbikes.jpg

Awwwe...
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/jenandjim.jpg

After listening to my stomach growling for about half an hour, we made our lunch break in Grand Lake at Max and T's Bar and Grille.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/maxandTs.jpg

Shoulda taken the pic of the food when it arrived, instead of after I had finished it. I had the Caribean Pork Sandwich. It included pulled pork, sweet onions and cranberry chipotle sauce on a grilled flat bread.

If you've ever been on hwy125, you know of the different parts of that road...some of it nice and sweeping/twisty and the rest a complete straight-away for miles. Another name for this part of Colorado is North Park...
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/northpark-1.jpg

Um, Jen...I don't mean to bug ya or anything, but I think you are the one who's supposed to wear the helmet;-) This is the moose ranger station on the road up to Cameron Pass.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/helmetmoose.jpg

Every canyon we rode in today had a very swollen river. The Poudre River was no exception. It was pretty high as well. I just didn't get a good shot of the river.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/zedbythepoudre.jpg

Well, at least my camera got the bird feeder into focus;-)
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/hummingbird-1.jpg

About a mile into Stove Prairie Road going South, I came up on several stopped vehicles and people walking down into a ravine. It seemed someone had crashed their van and it was flipped on its side. Luckily no one was in the van. It may have been an old crash, but only by about a day. Strange how it was still there.

The hood of the van still felt a tad warm when I stopped to make sure no one was hurt. It looked like someone walked out of there. If you looked at the tracks the van was on all four tires at the bottom of that little ravine.
