Having been hit by 8 cars as a cyclist, I can relate completely to these cyclists. Never been hit during a race though, but all of my races have usually been on a closed course, or at the very least marshalled (so traffic can only go the same direction as the bikers, and only after they pass by the car).

I really hate those fuckers. They take up 2+ lanes sometimes and expect you to get out of their way. They all have attitudes like the whole goddamn road should be shut down for them to ride their fucking bikes. Fuck them...You cant ride an ATV on the road or any bike other then regular ones but you can ride a bike that you have to peddle right in the middle of a lane of traffic and hold up the whole world and it's legal.

Of course, common sense is not necessarily commonplace amongst citizens and law makers. Nor is it with the bikes that take up an entire lane of traffic and expect you to move around them.

LMAO...

How does basically saying "I hate bicyclists in the middle of the road" translate into "I wish it were legal to run them over!"

Bicycles going 10 MPH in a 50 MPH zone taking up an entire lane of traffic is what makes them dangerous. Sorry bud, but your logic is rather limited on this one.

And it's people like you, who ride bicycles in the middle of traffic for no reason, that piss the entire commuting world off.... especially with your attitude that "sharing the road" means taking up entire lanes of traffic.

I gave up road cycling because of drivers like you. Ones who think they can beat me to the corner and turn right because I'm smaller/slower, cutting me off with no room to spare. Ones who think the shoulder is a passing lane to squeeze around someone waiting to turn left. One too many brushes with side mirrors made me take up mountain bikes.

It goes both ways, I hate militant cyclists who ride in packs taking up the whole road, I hate drivers who bully cyclists to the point of endangering them.

meh.. no sympathy here.

You are the biggest generalizing person to date on this board!!!! Um, yeah, everyone that rides a road bike does that Einstein.....and to help with your lack of intelligence, that pic was during a race with escort and supposed to be a closed lane..when the DRUNK hit them.

A hate to say this, but a person like you will end up in a bad situation on your moto or car because you will rage and end up losing or pick a battle with someone you nothing about and that person with put you back into your isolated hole.

Now.....lets hear your dumbass comment back about dumb cyclists, and how poeple get in you way and takingup the whole road and blah blah blah...
Oh, if you really want to test your self....there are races every wed night in boulder, cherry creek etc that you can come make yourself heard and next week on Sunday there is a race. Come on out...! Or stay behind your little keyboard down in your "underground" hole and maintain your same level of ignorance.

A. You're assuming that I was speaking about THIS situation, this being an escorted closed-road deal is completely different than a pack of dumbasses taking up the entire lane in traffic in the middle of the day on saturday. Agreed?

B. Assuming that I am an aggressive or angry driver is another fault in your argument. You don't know me, and I don't know you. You don't know my driving habits, and you don't know what I do for a living. I'm expected to maintain a clean license.

I understand the situation above, and while it was unfortunate, it's a risk people take (including us Motorcyclists) by going out on two wheels. I was not speaking of them.

Every single pack of bikes I've come across have this fucking attitude (e.g. see your quoted post above) about how traffic should heed to them.

Where the fuck did I say anything about "atrainthornton" is fucking retarded bicycle riding douche? Did I say that anywhere? Did I make any specific comments about you, assrod?

No.

Keep riding your bike. I'll yield to you fags on your bicycles, (since we've resorted to calling each other names, even though I never specifically said anything about YOU before hand.)

But I don't have to be happy about it, and I certainly don't have to hear your egotistical whining about YOU slowing down traffic for everyone else.

And as for going out to Boulder or Cherry Creek to make myself heard, that makes a lot of fucking sense. Ooh you wanna fight big man? Fuck off. I'd puff my e-chest and respond to that, but you are certainly NOT worth the time.

Next you'll give me your phone number so we can talk about it... :jerkoff:

Did I ever mention one thing about a fight or puffing my "e-chest"....um, I said come to the races to be HEARD. Your do have a voice right. And realize that a voice can create change...what is with the "fight" mentality, or is this just anger?

Puckster says it best....and this is a brief recap,
the problem in ALL situations are the stupid poeple.....

And YES, all of your comments are general statements

"Every single pack of bikes I've come across have this fucking attitude (e.g. see your quoted post above) about how traffic should heed to them."

FUNNY....I don't, nor do the other cyclists that are on this forum, or those I ride with feel this way.....
betting you are educated as you used alphabetic break down on you rebuttle, try changing your perspective and realize that you did make all your statements generalizing everyone..including me and all the other cyclists on this forum with descriptive words such as ALL.....
IF, you use adjetives such as "some" or try, "there are times".....cause that I agree with, but to generalize and entire populatin of poeple based upon a sport or activity or aspect of life such as sport bike owners...well, is not so smart and that is where the problem lies with PERCEPTION.

Most "motor"cyclists have been super courteous to me as I ride into work lately. One was totally cool allowing me to cross the walk when he thought I was waiting for him. It must be all about courtesy, right? hmm.... that seems universal

I stay far to the right and try to still think like a cyclist: as if all cagers hate me and want to take me out like the tenth pin on a bowling alley lane. Maybe that's keeping me alive on rides so far

Then again, the example here is that there's some stupid POS who drinks and takes out bi"cyclists" on a group ride in Mexico. Incidently, it was a drunk fucking American tourist!

If you're on two wheels, watch out for other riders and drivers. Sometimes, they're one in the same sorta ass-hat:up:

Or, just ignorant fucks like Sonic boom

This place is certainly always good for a laugh.

Here I go generalizing again:

Bicyclists = Dumbasses

That should get a good number of responses and piss everyone off, right?

Let's see if we can make this a ten page epic about how I don't care for bicyclists in traffic... and randomly turn it into funny pictures/inside joke thread, and eventually get it locked or deleted. I mean, that's what usually happens right?

Did I say I minded single file bikes?

No.

Sharing the road with bicyclists that are doing what they should, and riding to the far right of the lane are fine with me and I have no qualms with them.

It's when 100 of you get together and block an entire lane on my morning commute to work on a two lane highway with a double yellow line that don't fucking pull over.

Yep, I'm the ignorant fuck. Keep arguing points that I never made...

I guess I'll be back.

While I didn't want to really get involved in this whole debate this thread has turned into, I decided to throw in my two cents.

As a cyclist on a large team, we always ride single file to the far right side of the lane...EXCEPT in the following situations: (3 for now that I can think of)

a) When we are going the speed limit...then we take up an entire lane. Its safer that way since idiot drivers notice us easier and realize we are going the speed limit. Otherwise they will pass us and try to turn in front of us not realizing how fast we are going.

OR

b) When there are 50 of us. But then, we ride 2 abreast, and still as far to the right as possible. This is usually reserved for US-36 when we can ride in the shoulder out to Lyons. This is rarely done on busy city streets.

OR:

c) When the road does not permit 2 abreast, we ride single file unless we have to change up the front wheel. When this happens, the front guy drops off to the back of the pack and does this as fast as possible, and usually when there is no traffic.

On top of that, a ton of riders on the team have been seriously injured by contact with cars, or know someone who has. We've even known quite a few riders to have been killed by cars, be it an accident or road rage that was intentional. Either way, we still respect cars more than they deserve for the way most people drive. (Not attacking drivers, but I'm just saying that most drivers respond towards cyclists in a negative way no matter what, just because they are on 2 wheels and pedal)

BUT...we are also on the drivers side when it comes to stupid bikers (see how I used biker instead of cyclist to signify an ignorant and moronic bicyclist?) who act like they own the road. We yell at those bikers. We change our route to go talk to them and tell them that they are the reason bikers have a bad reputation. Usually, they listen, other times we get a bird.

Thread Debate CONTINUUUUUUUUUUUUE!!!

Not really, but when people make general comments about an entire gorup of people, well (um ...Hitler...Nazi....racist....IGNORANCE)
that is the bigger problem.

As Sonic Boom thinks, all cyclists are the problem......and then he makes rebuttles about "not" saying something about others on the board that say they do not ride like that and he feels his point is made....BUT..Sonic BOOM...99% of your comments are general and therefore grouping all.....remember...cyclists=dumbass
do I like the way "SOME" "Cyclists" ride (bike or moto)...hell no....
But, I am not going to clasify every person the way he has. And that is where in this thread he has created an issue. And not to mention his level literacry with words he must of researched to find like, assrod, cunt, douchbag, and the list goes with words he either just learned and feels very passionate about...or.....he needs to get laid real quick and stop taking out his frustration on others.
BREATH and try changing your perspective....
IF one can change the way they look at something, then that something will begin to change.

yeah,,I'd like to know this to Sonic Boom? I was hit by a car while on a training ride several years ago. I was as far to the right as possible doing the best I could to be out out the way. The lady in the car that hit me sounded alot like you! she was late for church! I agree some cyclists don't ride correctly at times, but I think most do. I don't think you should be allowed to drive anything with your attitude, your dangerous! This accident could have killed me, but instead I was left with the remainder of my life to suffer pain in my neck and back. I've had two surgeries and have a part on my hip bone missing and three disks fused in my neck and a Ti plate and 8 screws to stablize it. I also have areas of my leg and foot that have no feeling at all. It ended my racing and my marriage of 25 years and lets not forget the job I lost to, all in one years time, not so good yes? All because someone thought they should have every inch of the road! Now if I was a trucker and I had your attitude about sportbikes and found you in my way would it be ok for me give you a little love tap and maybe rearrage you whole life? After what I've been through and still have to live with I think people like you should be sent to sniper school, to be used as targets!!! I would be the best in the class!!!

A sidewalk could've helped you avoid ALL of that. :)

I don't know if you've heard or not... motorcycles are dangerous also.

If you're in as much pain and as injured as you say you are, you should probably stop riding it.

It's a risk people take by getting on two wheels on roads full of drivers who don't give a shit/can't see us.

Don't you think by riding a motorcycle, I'm even more alert to bikes of any kind on the road? I've been bullied on the road and I know how it feels, and I wouldn't do that to someone as powerless as those on bicycles (see my post above as you clearly didn't read it about how I don't drive like a tool), so calm the fuck down please...
