Since I missed that ride that Clovis posted it got me thinking about something to ride today. So I screwed around with google and found one that would work. And one that would keep me SW of town to avoid the weather.

Left around 930am this morning with me and the SV and got home around 4ish.

I thought the roads would be more curvy but I guess the map doesn't really show that. At least the weather held up for the trip. It was sunny for over half of the ride.

126 South was a lot of fun down to Woodland Creek. Then 67 South into Victor/Cripple Creek was great too. Ended up getting pulled over in Victor.

I was hunting around for a non-existent gas station and the roads were sand covered. I saw the stop sign out of the corner of my eye but didn't want to jab on the brakes to stop. It was clear anyways. So, I am about 4 miles out of Victor and notice a cop wayyyy back so I stay the speed limit. He catches up really fast and finally pulls me over by that big gold mine. He asked if I had any idea why...I said nope. He mentioned the stop sign. I said sorry about that! I was really focusing on all that sand. He gave me a warning and said have a great ride. And then told me where to find the gas station in Cripple Creek:) Really nice guy no attitude at all just a cool dude!

77 North through Tarryall on up to 285 was interesting. I heard it was crappy but figured what the hell. The first 6 or so miles was great! Then I saw the sign; "Road Damage 26 miles". Hey why fix it when you can put up a sign? I actually had a lot of fun dodging all of the potholes and sand. It was worth it because the scenery was great. Best road of the whole trip. Then the last 8 miles was new pavement with fast sweeping turns.

Stopped just west of Bailey at that Conney Hot Dog place...damn good hot dog.

Anyways that was it...260 miles and the SV did 60+mpg :)

Nice write-up. Good pictures, too. I really like the one with you lookin' all bug eyed with the road damage sign in the background. Oh, and the wires sticking out of your helmet ad that "alien" character to it all. Good colors. We use to do that route last year quite a bit. Good riding to you.

Nice route,

26 miles of Road damage. This is Tarryall Rd. When I saw this sign I almost turned around, but very glad I didn't. Most beautiful stretch of road. Prime spot to own property! Next time you go down check out the loop that includes 9 and 11 just south of Guffey. It has some rolling hills that keep you guessing on what direction the road is going until the last second.
