ticking noise

I have an 08' Ninja 650r, only about a month old and I hear a ticking noise coming from within the engine casing (i think as it is hard to pinpoint). Is this normal in the break in period or do I need to cash in on the warranty?

can u describe the ticking? Does it increase in frequency with rpm? Where about is it coming from? When u say ticking, is it loud metal on metal or just a tick?

Really, it's a Kawi, that's what they do. Ticking is fine, knocking is bad so if you're worried, keep an ear on it and make sure it doesn't get worse, but i wouldn't worry about it. I was a little unnerved when my 07 6R was doing the same thing, but it's SOP for Kawasakis.

my zx9r does the same thing. actually most of them do. as soon as the ticking goes away thats when theres a problem.......but in all seriousness some really do tick. if you are worried about take it in and have it checked out under warranty but it could very well be its personal quirk.

Thank you all for the input, I only hear it when idling, otherwise I dont hear it. I come from a fzr back in 91 and dont recall any noise like that.

if your bikes tick is natural for it then expect a bit of an increase if you ever switch out the full exhaust. a slip on pipe wont affect the noise though.
