NICE!!!! changed oil/filter, new starter, added 5 qts of type F trans fluid, coolant flush, drained old gas and got 4 gals. of fresh gas w/ BG supercharge, and threw a couple pillows on the seat, still a long way to go, but it was a nice zip around the block :)

I love it when an old engine comes back to life. I think they should make a show about it. I would watch.

I started the straight six in the mustang and I was thinking how nice it was until it started smoking like a bogger. I think that I am going to have to change the engine in mine. At least you got a good engine yours so far.

Lot of sanding. Try chemical paint stripper and media blasting.
Harbor Freight has a cheap blaster gun that does an OK job as long as you have a good compressor.

Anyway, congrat's and hope your rust assessment holds true.

Great ideas. The "clone" cars and update conversion cars are even starting to fetch some real money.
I may actually be interested in selling the Cutlass, we'll have to talk DK.

I originally bought it to practice my bodywork/welding skills before tearing into the Cuda, but now have too many projects.
('77 Vette (aka: Barbies Dream Vette), '87 LaBaron Covert. for my grandaughter, '81 CJ5, finish the RD350, fix the Triumph, do something with the CBR F1, Harley Hello Kitty concept, plus keeping my commuter car and R6 running.)

The Cuda is a clone with some updates, it was originally a 318 car.
Currently it has a 340 out of a '72 challenger in it.
Was going to do an engine rebuild but after doing the math have pretty much decided to go with a magnum 360 crate motor (390hp vers).
I'd love an elephant motor but at 14K plus all the upgrades needed to handle a hemi it's overkill.
They've come out with some small block strokers that are in the 4 & 5 hundred horse/torque range and run on pump gas that I might look into too.

Nice job. I did the same thing to my Mustang. Someone gave me some cherry stock seats for the back before I even had the car and it slipped right in. I was having the same problem with overflow on mine and I ran it some more lately and its stopped flowing out the top there. A rebuild or a through cleaning of the carb and its parts never hurt either when a car has been sitting for a long time. (Works on bikes too)

because they copied me. Just last week I had a guy in a RV next to me at a stop light tell me "that's a nice GTO". You would be amazed at how many people think it is a nova, impala or whatever else. Anybody that knows anything about old cars can tell from the front and rear lights that it is a ford.

Yes.... you are a grand prick DK.

A friend of mine had a car we used to call "The Pseudo-Goat".
It was a Tempest with a GTO front clip and LaMans doors and trunk.
He kept the badging on all the parts so it was confusing as hell to people.

On top of that his older brother worked at an auto paint shop and saved the leftover paint from a dozen or so spray jobs and they put a diagonal stripe of each color across the car.
It looked like a godamn rolling color sample card.

This past weekend-
-Primed from the trim up(after stripping all that rust)
-Installed all the missing lug nuts/locking lugs
-Edelbrock Performer carb., new air & fuel filters
-Laid carpet on the dash & rear deck(after fabbing a new one w/ cardboard)
-New head lamps and installed light bezels
-Installed lap belts, got it registered & insured

This week-
-alignment & balance wheels
-new brake shoes, hardware & fluid
-floor mats & installing rear side panels
-purchased the 3 pack of 1.5" white face gauges... reto- fitting gauges & tach into the stock dash behind the plastic covering
-I'm thinking mini tach to the right of the speedo where the clock would be & 3 pack of gauges where the stock radio sits (far right) since theres already a din sized cut out just to the right of the ign. switch.
