And that's the current state of it. I still need to get my midpipe made for my undertail exhaust, and make a fiberglass filler for the fairings, and a few odds and ends. It should be running by the end of the month. My idea for paint and my final image in my head looks something like this:

Super nice fab! Ever think of doing a GP style exhaust though? Either way its going to look sweet!

Im at an impass for the exhaust. I am running a 06 R1 subframe and I have the dual undertail mufflers. i also have a R6 shorty can that I could run if I so chose. I have a D&D 4-2-1 header so I have a lot of options. I can put the collector on and have a 2" midpipe snaking around the swingarm and under the tail and splitting to two. I already looked into doing 2 pipes all the way up like a ducati, but the pipe would have to be 1.5" and I could only find shops who could mandrel bend 1-5/8" and Id need a custom X-pipe made. Id be looking at 600+just for midpipes that serve no real good. Im going to run stock R1 cans for the season, then I will modify a set of micron cans with the red to black fade in them to fit.

Ive also toyed with bringing a pipe up either side of the bike to the tail. That would be cool I think. I will either paint te pipes black or wrap them. I know the wrap can accellerate rust, but thats not as big of a problem in denver. I am leaning toward this idea right now, but I cant pull it off due to the angle of the rearset on the left side. The pipe would have to be bent totally differently and it would bug me.

I do have a R6 shorty can that I could use though and eliminate the undertails. But the tail is made for them and would not look quite right IMO.

I have also thought abouth some sort of small hidden exhaust, but Im not really getting anywhere that I like with it.

Oh yeah, those arent the final dog bones. Just templates.

Cool project.:)

I'm working on a project that is similar to yours in many respects. It is the restoration and street conversion of a vintage race bike. Mine has similar issues regarding getting a bunch of custom and non-stock parts to all work together (custom frame, subframe, wheels, etc.)

Looking forward to seeing pix of your finished bike.

Some exhaust shots. I have to trim the pipes on them before I get my midpipe made since these were designed to go right where my shock is.
