Sounds like the staff didnt walk the track before race time. Last thing Id want to be thinking about is nails / debris on the track. Some things cant be avoided like food wrappers and such on race day.

I remember at a riders meeting at Erie we were told there was construction going on in turn #1, I believe, and the rebar was sticking out toward the track. If your were going to bail in that corner to be sure and push away from the bike.

This is definatly a dangerous business were in kids.
