Did you know that leaning in a car helps take corners better?

I did it today in a 05 Malibu and there was a lot less body roll. Your not removed from the world when you are in a car your just in cage. I learned that today.

I would imagine that leaning in a car makes very little to no difference in the way that the vehicle corners; it's probably a placebo effect.

DavidofColorado
Mon Aug 4th, 2008, 01:02 AM
That's what I thought too. But with both driver and passenger leaning it keeps the body roll to a minimum. Try it.

I used to AutoX with SCCA back in 2003 with a Celica GT-S that I ran in GS. Even when carrying a passenger, leaning did nothing to minimize body roll in that little 2,500lb car.

Show me irrefutable proof that this works.

I don't know if leaning does anything but I know for a fact that if you look through a turn like you do on a motorcycle, it does help you through a turn. Basically the whole look where you want to go concept.

Yep. Clay Turner beat that concept into my head when he would ride with me; "Look ahead! Look ahead! Look ahead! Eyes up!"

What kinda proof were you looking for my friend?

Some scientific proof that the minuscule movements of one's torso has a significant effect on the inertial body roll of a 3,000lb vehicle.

To think that leaning a hundred pounds 18" to one side or the other has any discernible effect on the center of gravity (and thereby the amount of body roll) of a 3500 lb car is laughable.

DavidofColorado
Tue Aug 5th, 2008, 08:01 PM
They do that to some degree. The EGR (exhaust gas recirculate) does that and it has to do with emissions crap. But this idea wouldn't work at all.

It's not a matter of faith, David. It's a matter of physics. A Malibu weighs somewhere around 3,500lbs. Leaning your torso a foot and a half one direction or the other is not going to make a difference in that vehicle's inertial body roll. It's not.

That's what I was thinking about.

I know it works. Just like when I used to ride in a car and I would lunge forward you could feel the car move. Ok its not the same thing but leaning in the direction that the car wants you to makes the car lean more so leaning the other counters it. That's all I am saying. I will take some video the next time I take her car up in some twistys we can see what it looks like when I stay still and when I lean.

You know I thought the thread about the car getting shot would generate more interest than this one. Oh well its good to get some ideas like this out there. Even if they maybe proven wrong later.

David, there have been many stupid posts from stupid people over the years on the CSC. We have had trolls, political arguments and various other waste of time posts. But your original thought that you can lean in a car and make it roll less takes the cake as the most RETARDED thing I have ever read. I could try the leaning thing in my SVT but I'm pretty sure there is a reason they put Recaro seats in it. You are a moron of epic proportions and have proved it time and again. Of course, you bought a bike from a unethical, lying idiot (Butters) with a paint job that resembles fecal splaters hurled by a bus load of epileptic orangutans. Retard.

totally reminded me of the principal in Billy Madison.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

DavidofColorado
Thu Aug 7th, 2008, 07:40 PM
Well King Nothing says some pretty moronic things but even then none of them is his own.

As for Butters. I never met the guy I bought my bike from the shiesters at Fey Meyers. They are the a moral SOB that sold me my bill of goods. And I would warn anyone against trusting those fuckers. As for your opinions well I think that Yoda (A.K.A butters) had the right idea about getting away from this site. You guys are dicks you talked about his riding his bike even his woman and kids. I don't know where you got off but he couldn't hang. I can sling insults with the rest of you so I am not going anywhere. If you think that I am retarded I'm sure that you can say it to my face next time I am around if your not cowarding somewhere. As for people in another state getting their chuckles at my expense I'm sure its because they are losers and need my ideas to feel better about their lack of ideas.

The guy that discovered counter steering didn't get all the old fuckers that he rode with to believe him at first either. Until they tried it.

As for physics. You don't lift the whole car that weighs 3,500 lbs (with me so far?) you lean the car. And if you didn't drive Eurotrash you would know that American cars don't have racing suspension and lean a little in a turn. Leaning a car takes very little strength. Even a baby dick like you could do it.

Now if you don't have anything original to say go watch Billy Madison or Little Nicky again come back later.

EAD.

What do you do with a elephant with 3 balls?

Nothing you walk him and pitch to the Rhino.

I didn't post this thread to fight with the shit talkers or to try and pull one over on you. I didn't want to bring up old shit either with people on here. (but you asked for it)

I posted it because I tried it and it worked. Thought it would be fun to share. Sorry I failed... and posted the lamest thread ever... and I am reaffirming your beliefs that I'm an idiot... Whatever, maybe I get a little crazy and try some stuff out that you wouldn't. Call it what you want.

David

David, leaning in a car does not help a car take corners better. However, by leaning you are given the illusion of better cornering because you are compensating for the forces placed upon your body by the car's change in direction.

It's physics - a 200 pound human does not have enough mass to affect the momentum of a 3500 pound car.

If leaning in a car did improve cornering, F1 and IRL drivers wouldn't be strapped in like they are. They'd be leaning out like they do in sidecar races.

Quick! Somebody from Chicagoland take this post on over to the Museum of Science and Industry for a look over! BTW, if anyone here EVER has the chance to go to Chicago--hey you Cub fans, drop by the museum (you need a whole day, or at least a half-day) and check out all the cool-ass stuff there. Especially, the U-505 German sub that the carried the Enigma decoding machine. We captured this sub and kept it quite until after the the end of WWII. Without it, shipping across the Atlantic would have been a lot tougher and the war may not have turned in our favor--as Hitler and his crew were close to firing up the V-3 and plopping a few nukes in our backyard. But hey, this is a MC site and I digress. The city of Chicago recently moved the sub from outside of the museum to it's own underground lair.

http://www.timshipman.com/images/tim%20misc/U505.JPG

Here you can see the sub on it's jacking prior to being moved underground. Check out those aft tubes!

Leaning in a car is not a good replacement for a solid suspension...and excuse me for saying this but what kind of 'noob' would say something stupid like that. The only thing leaning in your car will do is make you look more retarded than this post makes you sound.

I lean when walking but that's usually after a few drinks and then I tip over, pee myself and laugh myself to sleep. :)

And Ern honey if you're going to call someone ignorant, maybe you should use your spell check. It's hard to flame people and have them take you seriously when you can't spell.....I'm just sayin.

And Ern honey if you're going to call someone ignorant, maybe you should use your spell check. It's hard to flame people and have them take you seriously when you can't spell.....I'm just sayin.

BAHAHAHAHAHA oppie.... my bad ;) I was typing quickly :D :D :D :D

You make me laugh :D :D :D :D :D

Oh BTW.... I am a SHE .... not a HE :D

So your saying that you posted the lamest lip syncing video destroying a classic song but you're a girl. Does that excuse you?

BTW I didn't care about your spelling. I didn't want to argue semantics or be the pot calling the kettle black. Its all good if you want to forget about it I'm good.

Why didn't you say that to begin with? That would have avoided 3 pages shit talking.

See, now this is very interesting as I remember you showing me the rash on your bike from when YOU crashed.

Oh, and I fixed your third grade spelling and grammar. No need to thank me.

I never crashed. My bike has fallen over, because of other people being to close while it was parked. But that is what is so great about your argument. Your attention to detail.

Yeah, because no one else told you how and why your idea was so fucking retarded in the first place.I fixed it for you. I guess were even.:alien: But hell don't stop there go back and fix the spelling in all my posts. A comma here, maybe some bold text and the proper use of to, two and too might get me some respect around here? But I doubt it. Everyone is hypersensitive and there should be a list of words that set you guys off but everyone has their own list and it would take to long to compile.

Which by definition is a verb describing the action of having sexual intercourse.

If you think about it, fuckin could also be used as an adjective (a word used to modify a noun).

Example: You dropped your fuckin bike. In this example fuckin was used to modify the noun; bike.

Derived from the German word 'Ficken'... can be used as almost every word in a sentence.. 'Fuck the fucking fuckers'.. as an expletive 'Why don't you go outside and play hide-and-go-fuck-yourself'

Fuck is an sweet word. I'll agree.

You obviously need to report to 3rd grade stat! Phonetics and overall literacy is something that haunts you in life, isn't it?

The choice of article is actually based upon the phonetic (sound) quality of the first letter in a word, not on the orthographic (written) representation of the letter. If the first letter makes a vowel-type sound, you use "an"; if the first letter would makes a consonant-type sound, you use "a." So, if you consider the rule from a phonetic perspective, there aren't any exceptions. Since the 'h' hasn't any phonetic representation, no audible sound, in the first exception, the sound that follows the article is a vowel; consequently, 'an' is used. In the second exception, the word-initial 'y' sound (unicorn) is actually a glide [j] phonetically, which has consonantal properties; consequently, it is treated as a consonant, requiring 'a'.

"A" goes before all words that begin with consonants. There is one exception: Use an before unsounded h.

"an" goes before all words that begin with vowels. There are two exceptions to this rule: When u makes the same sound as the y in you, or o makes the same sound as w in won, then a is used.

Therefore, the correct way to say this would be: "Fuck is a sweet word. I agree."

You are boring me.Ah grasshoppa (that was slang btw) you have much to learn about me. :)

If intelligence is a bore, then maybe you should go back to the trailer park you came from and do some soul searching. Obviously you don't have the wit about you to realize that it's people like you that drag the intellect of society down as a whole. How does it feel to be the lowest common denominator?

I'm sure you've heard the term: "A heard of buffalo is only as fast as it's slowest member", right? Keep up, fuck-tard!

K. Your not that intelligent if you think I care about what you think. Sorry but I don't care I tried but your cut downs are lame and your grammar lessons are boring. I have written you off. Not because I think I am better but because you proved we are not of like minds. But with your ego you might think your better. But try not to hold up the heard.
