I've been looking around at various threads and web sites looking at an exhausts for my 05 R6.

I'm not looking for performance. I likely won't get a PCIII till Santa shows up at my tree later this year. I don't want to wake the neighbours up either. I would like to ride in Denver from time to time without a ticket. I'm ok if it screams on the top, but not so much down low.

I just want to clean up the tail and the exhaust and have a nice sound.

I personally like the look of shorty exhausts.

I looked at a GYTR Carbon shorty pipe , but I'm reading that they are very loud. I like the look and sound of the HR1 RIOT (at least in AOL videos).

Still, I have some other concerns:

First they tend to stick directly out which if hot makes it a burn hazard. I'm wearing equipment 95% of the time, but there is the odd jot to the rec centre or park. A burn would really suck.

2nd, there is a plastic part on the frame that appears to hide a bolt? I figure that might burn when the exhaust gets hot.

Wadaya Think?

Check out http://www.r6-forum.com/ and http://www.r6messagenet.com/

There are some people on there that have successfully installed the shorty stock exhaust off a newer R6 on an '05 and earlier R6.

The GYTR shorty is loud as hell.

Y I searched both of those... Burn doesn't seem to be an issue.. No one talks about the plastic on by the exhaust.... Not sure about that..
