Picked up the body work from paint today. Matt's guys at M&M in Aurora, CO did a awesome job. Paint is actually a 2008 Porsche Color.

There is no way my camera is going to do this paint any justice. But here it is anyway.

(Still waiting on a bearing to be able to assemble the swingarm and the rest of the bike).

That's going to be one fun bike!

I hope you enjoy riding it as much as you do building it. Although, they are two very different things.

I quite often find more enjoyment in the project itself. It's just fun to tweak things the way you want them, and know they're done right - because you did it yourself.

Enjoy

With a little help from Scott at Rockstomper I cured my swingarm bearing issue and finally got the speed triple off of the engine hoist tonight.
Still need to do a lot to it, but it was nice to see it on the wheels.
Forgive the mess, there has been an engine hoist in the way for months. It is cleaner now.

Waiting on a bunch of misc parts to arrive to put the rest toghther.
Need to find a coil plug but am having zero luck.
Had time to work on it today.........but it was 66 degrees and sunny here in Colorado so I decided to put off working on the Speedy until another day and took the R1 for a very nice long ride. ;)
I did at least roll it outside and take a camera phone pic. Wish I could have got the sun on the paint, it is sooooo sexy in the sun.

I currently have a carbon blue flame exhaust for it. It needs some serious cleaning up and a mount fabbed up. It came on the bike. If I can't get it cleaned up well I will replace it, just not sure what with yet.

I should have taken some better pictures of it before I started.

Here is the only one I have. It was rattle canned flat black. There were about 6 layers of vaious spray paints on it. Overspray all over the frame, wheels, tires etc.

The frame was seriously stained from a fuel leak that had obviously been there for a long time. (I have ordered ALL new tank gaskets, o-rings and seals).

fuel stains were probably from the plastic quick connect fittings in the fuel pump plate, most were replaced under a factory recall. I had to replace the same fittings on my sprint.

Would like some feedback, suggestions, etc from you guys.
Luimoto (luimoto.com) is working on some custom seats for the Speedy project. They currently do not offer Triumph Speed Triple seats (but probably will after doing mine since they have mine to modle off of)

Here are a couple of renderings. Which option do you like best? (I think the gold color is actually tan, just looks gold in the renderings, you can go to Luimotos site and see some of their other work to get an idea. I have one of their seats on my R1 and love it)

Option 1

Option 1.

But leave both seats black and run the tan/green stripe down both of them.

The Speedy project has been moving kinda slow.
It is over at TFOG Wheelsports having an electrical glitch debugged.
Hoping to get it fired up and ridable soon!!!! Then I can work on all the real details of making this bike something cool.
I got the seats back from Luimoto today. I have been VERY excited about this. Since the bike is not here I set them on the tail section to snap some quick pics to give everyone an update. (they will obviously fit better when actually locked onto the bike).

Love the contrast color- plastics/frame, and the tan matching seat is going to be cherry!! Also, love the ss swingarm, did that come from at STripple and what year is your bike?

Edit: Whow, those seats are beautiful!! Kick ass!!!!!

As soon as I get it back I will work on some of the other little details. Bars, levers, tires, exhaust etc. May have to powdercoat the headlights to match the rest of the black parts.

Might be a little soon for me. I will look at the schedule.

I just need to do the headlight buckets in the same black we did the other stuff in and "maybe" the bars. Can you shoot me a quote?

Couple of quick pics before riding it to work today. :D

LOTS of work to still be done. I have to work on all the little details now that it is mostly complete and running. (so some of the stuff you see in the pictures will change)

Jim at TFOG did a great job getting the electrical sorted and valves done.
