"...if you look more carefully at the 1,300 searches Hitwise tracked, one of the most commonly entered search topics surrounding Palin was "hot photos." ... Other queries common to the American public: "Sarah Palin Bikini Photos," "Sarah Palin Naked," "Sarah Palin Nude."

Damn... we Americans are pervs. :) I love it!!!!

If only the local news gave 10% the attention to the RNC as they did to the DNC I might have heard about the speech 10 times by now. Liberal bias I guess? It should be added to death and taxes as the only things in life that are guaranteed.

Even though that pictures is a photo shop pic. I have no doubt that she is so hot I get jealous when I see her with McCain thinking... "What is she doing with that old guy?"

She would be better off with 2 x 36 year olds. But then I snap to and relized she is just my perfect ideal version of a conservative and I think she is "the one".

^^I'd agree, but CNN ain't local & that's all I heard about from them last week. This week it's kinda like "hey a bunch of stuff happened, let's talk about it a bit, time for a break oh & by the way, the RNC is in St. Paul."

Yeah - what was up last night? Last week the DNC was on every fricken channel; you couldn't get away from it! I haven't been able to find hardly any coverage on over the air channels yet. I saw it on tv for the first time this morning when Merideth Viera interviewed Guliani. -she made it seem like she is a flaming liberal. To me it seems that the media is "hopenitized" by Obama; he seems to be the only person running for president right now.

Well I meant that Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman's speeches were so excellent, that it basically set the Dem's on fire. Especially Fred Thompson's speech, he really flamed the Democrats, hence why we need to call the Fire Department, because the Dem's are on crash and burn mode now. :)

Yes!!!! Preach it!!! I love the NCMRDHs of the world. Y'all are just jealous that she has switched sides and is unavailable for drilling of her untapped reserves. Granted, it would take about 10 years to see any increase in production from her if you *do* drill in her national refuge, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth pursuing. Public Service AnnouncementL L.L. is currently closed for drilling.

(and DoD, that is still sarcasm)

Edit: Back on topic - when is Sarah Palin going to open her Alaskan frontier for drilling? I don't think we can refer to it as wilderness any more, given the local population in the Palin house, but that doesn't mean it isn't ripe for new exploration.

I remember reading here somewhere that if McCain has an affair with an intern it won't be a scandal, it will be a miracle. If Palin has an affair with an intern, it will be one lucky intern and probably an underground pornotube.com hit.

Anyway, I admire Saraha Palin. She is a bussy mother of 5, yet she still maniges to deal death to and field dress a rogue moose, do the shopping and laundry for seven, ban some books at the local library, use her office to pursue personal and political vendettas, give a sermon about the "holly war" in the middle east, help plan Alaska's secesstion from the union, govern the 47th most populous state in the union, have a delicious plate of hot rogue moose on the table for her hard drinking husband and pregnant teen daughter, and yet she still looks like a million bucks while slinging mud at RNC! She is quite the little lady!

You also belong to what could be considered a 'radical' group - the CSC. We don't think any less of you for it though! ;)

I don't think she abused her power even if she did get involved with the A State Patrol. She had first hand knowledge of the type of troopers that where on the road and it made her question how well the organization was working. She took her real world experiences and applied them to that situation. If I were to become an elected official tomorrow, I would call up the IRS and question their hiring practices due to the fact that my experience with their employees has led me to believe that their hiring practices are flawed. (my apologies to anyone who works for the IRS.) I'm not going to blame her for doing the same.

Some of her constituents felt like some books were unfit for the general public, so she followed up on their concerns and checked into it. She represented her people even at the risk of public embarrassment.

She has religious beliefs and uses them as a moral compass in her workplace. She wasn't requiring anyone to worship her God or go to her church. She did not establish a state religion or church. She absolutely did not violate the constitution, but instead used her beliefs in integrity and honesty to the benefit of her people. If anyone tried to attack me because I have religious beliefs and told me I can't have religious beliefs because I work at a job I would sick the ACLU on their asses.

I've heard on this forum something about her belonging to a cessation organization, but I haven't seen in it on the liberal media networks even though they have attacked her on other very inappropriate topics, so right now I credit that as an internet rumor.

You can see it however you want to. You see her as evil because you are looking through liberal eyeglasses. Try to look at all of the candidates objectively and you will see something quite different.

I have been in contact with 2 friends who are Alaska residents and they have nothing but good things to say about Palin. Neither of my friends are political, so for them to have anything to say about their governor is impressive.

Here are some of the books that she and SOME (how many I wonder?) of her constituents felt were unfit for the general public:

BRAVE NEW WORLD
BRIDGE TO TERABITHA
CANTERBERRY TALES
CATCH-22
DEATH OF A SALESMAN
EAST OF EDEN
FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON
LORD OF THE FLIES
MY FRIEND FLICKA
OF MICE AND MEN
ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST
THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN
THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER
THE CATCHER IN THE RYE
THE COLOR PURPLE
THE GRAPES OF WRATH
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
WEBSTER'S NINTH NEW COLIEGIATE DICTIONARY

That is just some of the highlights. The list includes many authors including the following subversives:

WILLIAM FAULKNER
CHAUCER
JOHN STEINBECK
MARK TWAIN
D. H. LAWRENCE
EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS
JOHN JAKES
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Alot of those writers are boring as shit. The dictionary for one. lol

So I will give the benefit of the doubt that you are not lieing your ass off or bringing up some old shit where some nut jobs tried to ban books for the children and got smacked down because of it. But where were these books being banned? Elementary School or some other lower grade school these books may have no place. They are still going to be available in High School and definately college (I think I had to read Faulkner but I also thought he was a poet? IIRC). They are way to advanced for k-5 IMO. I tried to get my Nephew to read the Raven by poe and he had no understanding the story/poem.

Actually no...

Emails, memos and records show that as Mayor, Sarah Palin herself approached the library and asked how to go about banning books because "some voters" (of which there is no record or petition filed) felt they had inappropriate language. It's not like it was an elementary school library, but a federally and state funded public library.

And when the librarian would not support the banning of books, Palin threatened her and tried to have her removed for not giving "Full Support" to the mayor.

You slandering piece of crap. Did you post that because you wanted to tarnish the name a public official and hope that no one looked or are you just stupid and read only what you want to read?
Here is the rest of the page that you cited. Also it was convenantly posted after she was asked to be VP. Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008.

Note: there’s some buzz being generated that says that this post contains a comment that lists the books that Palin supposedly wanted banned. The list is here (http://www.librarian.net/stax/2366/sarah-palin-vp-nominee/#comment-119807), but there appears to be no truth to the claim made by the commenter, and no further documentation or support for this has turned up.

You might want to listen to your own advice.

While nobody can concretely place her name on a specific list of books... the events DID happen, and it was a public library not a school library. While no books ever got banned, it was in no part because Palin didn't try. She even went as far as trying to get the librarian removed for blocking her efforts.

Do a quick google search for it... Time magazine, NY Times, Boston Herald just to name a few, have articles about it.

IT WASNT ME, I suggest you put your arrogance and condescension aside. Because, when you are wrong (and in this case you blatantly are), you just look like, well, an asshole.

Media rumor and innuendo continues to fly around Mrs. Sarah Palin. So, now that facts are finally being straightened out, let's analyze them:

1. Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska (http://www.newsweek.com/related.aspx?subject=Alaska) by 62 percent. She didn't cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.

2. [Sarah Palin] did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla (http://www.newsweek.com/related.aspx?subject=Wasilla) library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.

3. She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party (http://www.newsweek.com/related.aspx?subject=Alaskan+Independence+Party), a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She's been registered as a Republican since May 1982.

4. Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan (http://www.newsweek.com/related.aspx?subject=Patrick+Buchanan) for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a "courtesty" when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.

5. Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism (http://www.newsweek.com/related.aspx?subject=Creationism) in Alaska's schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

Much more is available at the following article on NEWSWEEK's website. While not one of my favorite print magazines, it does (in this case) happen to provide a fair and accurate analysis of the Alaska Gov.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/157986

Also, please keep in mind that as Governor of Alaska (the state which is our first line of defense from eastern countries), Mrs. Palin receives more detailed national security briefings than Mr. Biden. Having a missle defense shield spread across your state kinda gives you that priority.

If you want to argue Palin on policy, that's fine, just save the bullshit for your liberal friends who don't have any interest in the truth.

If the anus king call me an asshole I guess I better listen. I discovered my mistake after I already posted. I was just goin to let it die, but sense it's been brought up again, I guess I will appoligize. I was given that list and link by a friend who's judgment I trust. I should have reserched the issue better before posting. My bad, I'm an asshole.

However, before we all start a petition to canonize Ms. Palin you might want to read this article: www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837918,00.html (http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837918,00.html)

Thanks Bra. I will cross party lines for help with my grammar.

Bottom line is VOTE, no matter what your views.
I just came back from the Dominican Republic. It was good to see BELOW third world standards. The difference did kick me in the head about just how damn good we have it here.

But it was nice not to see ANY Starbucks for a full week.

Proud to be an American. :hump:

True! I constantly come back to this, but I was with the UN in Africa for 6 months, and that was so humbling. Not just the conditions in Africa, but to talk to the folks from the other countries and what their lives are like. The Bosnians and Croatians were the most humbling, all of those guys had fought in the war. One of the guys told me straight; "I fought so that my children can grow up like you did." Guys who grew up in South Africa and to hear what they have to deal with still becuase of the rampant crime there (Did you know you are not allowed to defend yourself, even against an armed inturder?). The northern Europeans (Swiss, Fins, Norweigins, etc) who couldn't believe I could get a set of tires for my car for less than $400 (I had a lot of car magazines). Then there were the ones who had trained in or traveled to America and still were amazed that you could get food, anytime you wanted it, and that for a mere $.35 you could get even more. And all kinds of food, and almost everywhere.

Don't even get me started on their reaction to my house, and cars and lifestyle. It was almost embarrasing to talk about my middle class status. I am concinced if Americans traveeld more, we'd bitch a lot less.

I swear I say that ALL the time. We travel as much as possible, but I think Dawn and I are going to take a break from the Third world for a while.

Maybe England, Scotland, Ireland, and /or Spain next trip.

Did Ireland halfway through my Africa tour. My favorite trip ever. The Irish rule. We rented a car and just drove around for two weeks, statying at B&Bs and getting our next desination idea from the locals.

Then there is also this;

I agree. I grew up in a small town in Cali where the primary source of income was the government and then I saw true poverty in Panama. There is no comparison.

Gixxerk2, I love your Teddy Roosevelt quote. It illustrates where I feel we are now. We need another Teddy Roosevelt right now. We owe our whole modern standard of living directly to him and his policies. To me, he is one of the greatest, maybe THE greatest person ever to have lived.

I agree but given the level of scrutiny that modern politicians have to go through (see anal probes), the out of context attacks, and just general ill will that the other side can generate simply based on what letter is behind their name, I doubt we will see another of his kind.

Outdoorsman, military man, conservationist and someone that truly believed in the idea of America. He's my hero, in a time when heroes are passe. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.
