The sight of those rocks brought back old memories of the old MRA track in Woody Creek, Aspen, Colorado. It was an old garbage dump that was turned into a track. The 'back' straight was a good 100mph blast that ended in an almost 90 degree turn to the right. At the apex and all throughout the radius of the turn were rocks the size of pick-up truck beds acting like magnets for the inattentive rider. (The following map reflects some modifications to the track which is currently operated by the Aspen Sports Car Club)

In 1984 the Suzuki GSXR came out and was too potent for the track and very few riders could handle the ponies available at the wrist. Too many serious accidents contributed in part to the MRA having to discontinue the Woody Creek track which was a real turning point in MRA history. Fortunately Steamboat was still happening but that too came to an end a few years back. Aahhhhhhhhhhh --- the good old days --- maybe they will return in some reincarnate fashion. You should have been there :)

I remember seeing a totally smashed up Ducati in the back of a pickup truck parked next to us during the Sunday race @ PPRI.

That bike was a MESS!
