To me, this picture is the one that shows the damage.

There is just absolutely nothing left of hundreds of homes/lives.

Yeah, that's the single house I was talking about. There' litterally nothing left except the slabs for everybody else's HOME.

Years ago we lived in the Port Arthur Texas area. We were hit by a Cat 1 storm and that was bad enough since the area is basically at sea level to begin with. I can't imagine getting hit with a storm like Ike.

I lived in Galveston when Alecia hit in the mid 80's. It was pretty bad. Not water , electricity, fresh food for weeks. Our house survived but all of the trees in our neighborhood were gone. Roads were gone too.

just a few months ago when we visited alan's folks out there we went for a flight around Galveston and I can't remember if it was Alan or his dad that made the comment that all it'll take is one good hurricane and all of it would be gone. Later that week Alan took me for a drive down there and we got out and i got to see the sea wall (never saw one before) and just screw around, had lunch, seemed like a pretty cool place. I guess on the weekends/holidays it would get pretty packed down there.

I'm pretty bummed out about the Board Walk in Kemah too, we went there a couple times and it's a fun little place to hang out. Saw some video footage and its all under water, some of the rides poke through the water but for the most part, it's all under.

:(

Here's a pic from when we were there, that wall is pretty damn high.
