What bike are you riding? The M3's are great tires and so are the new Road Smarts. To be totally honest the Dunlops are absolutley amazing, from the feedback of the tires i sell at work the new road smarts are at the top of the chain. The hardest part that i noticed is the initial switch. The road smarts are great for highway and so are the M3's. I give both two thumbs up.

I am currently looking at getting the RoadSmarts on my 600RR. I have ready nearly 50 reviews and I am impressed. Now, to find someone local who has them and can mount them before Friday, for less than an arm and a fucking leg.

I checked Grand Prix because they were supposed to sell Dunlops at 50% off if you had them mounted their. I got a quote of $96 for the front tire which works out to about %8 off what I can get them for anywhere else. WTF Grand Prix!?!

It's 50% off of the suggested retail price...

SRP anywhere I have looked is $109 - $137. The "special book" Grand Prix has is akin to the "Market Value" book that used car sales men carry around.

I have been calling shops with prices MUCH lower than that. Not hitting discount sites. regardless, GP is out. $45 to mount a front tire off the bike is like punching babies.

ROAD SMARTS ARE PRETTY F!@#$%G SWEEEET!

TFOG IS THE PLACE TO GO IF THEY HAVE THEM IN STOCK.

OTD WAS $250 OUT THE DOOR AND 20 TO INSTALL OFF THE BIKE PER TIRE!.

Don't forget the Metzler ME Z6. The only complaint I have heard of them is that they do not have wear bars so you do not know when the centers are too thin to ride.

I hope this isn't breaking the rules but we do have them in stock at Fay Myers. Front is 107.99 and rear is 141.99 for a 180 and 143.99 for a 190. Mounting and balancing is $27 a wheel.

Do you offer the 10% CSC discount?

For the record MSRP is 188 for the front and 242 for the rear. Nobody charges that in a big city but that is the real MSRP

We do on items not already discounted but those tires are already marked down as much as we possibly can :(

When I talked to a rep from Dunlop yesterday I was told that Dunlop themselves suggests $137 for the front tire. Not sure where the higher numbers come from.

Dana, I'm off Friday of you want me to take your bike somewhere.
Or pick up the skins and I can try to mount em at my place.
(But being touring tires they might not want to work on my rig.)

The prices come right from our distributors price list and is printed in the catalog. A retail of $137 would be a fairly thin margin with normal pricing

Thanks mang :)

I hope Chris at Grand Prix gets back to me as he said he could do a better deal. All I want is the front mounted for $100 OTD and I will be happy.

I understand the margin. As a consumer, it is never my concern :) I also know the markup on a lot of other stuff that helps make up for the thin margin on others. It is business. I am just wondering why I frequently see bait and switch advertising, or incomplete, "get me in the door then give me the bad news", style adverts permeate the automotive parts and service industry.

We dealt with this crap at a restaurant last night. I don't tolerate it. You advertise it, you man up and make good on the deal.

It is frustrating and I really have no issue shopping around until I find a place that will give me a GREAT deal because they want me back.

I corded my Bt-016's on the Gixxer and will be giving the RoadSmart a try. How is the stick factor, coming from a sport tire to a sport touring tire? Anybody gone down that road?

TFOG - How do these compare to the Pilot Powers ?

TFOGGuys
Wed Oct 8th, 2008, 11:57 AM
Sully,
They're more comparable to the Pilot Road II. The Roadsmart is a dual compound sport touring tire, harder in the center, softer on the shoulders. FWIW, I am running the Pilot Road II on my FZ1, and have about 3K on them so far. PM me a phone number and I'll send you a crappy cell phone pic

Actually, they show almost no wear at 3K. In fairness, the OEM Bridgestones (BT020) went almost 11k, so I'm probably easier on tires than most.
