Anyone ever put Riv-Nut in your swingarm for spools?

I really want spools on the F4i, but the thought of drilling the swingarm is freakin me out a bit.

There was a previous post about this. I talked to several A&P mechanics and our machine shop supervisor and the all recommended against it. Riv nuts were not designed to hold up to the forces involved with spools. They are designed for much lighter stress levels than that. I think there were some people in the other post that had done it , but I would not recommend it. We used them to hold pieces of interior plastic trim together in helicopters.

I don't know that I'd do it in an F4i swingarm, but I did it in my F2 swingarm- works great.

Definately more inclined to go the welding route.

Anyone know a welder they can recommend for this job? It's aluminum.

What do welding jobs cost any way?

No problem. You could also post to see if there's any qualified welders on the board (that aren't assholes :D ).
