Another swing & miss from the design department at Kawi...
Think I'll keep mine for a few more years.

Plus they kept the engine at 599cc.

What is the paddle for on the side just in front of the back rear tire?

when you get going fast enough it flips out and swipes at the air, pushing you faster. bike looks like it was designed by a blind man with anger issues

you forgot that for an extra 200 smackers, you can get a kick ass Monster Energy Drink sticker and a green seat!

on a side note... I kind of like the burnt orange on the zx-10... It's nice to see Kawi borrowing colors from Honda's 2003 lineup...

oh yeah, I forgot that MSRP for the standard '09 model is $9,799.
Are we really paying almost $10k for a 600 nowadays???

In all fairness, there is an extra $500 for that swanky paddle thing on the side.

^^yeah, 'cause I want to pay MORE money for added weight to my bike...
My '07 retailed for $800-$900 less than that. What the hell???

And that's a NO on the swanky paddle !

Bike is redesigned, its lighter, corners better, and even though the motor is 599cc its not the same as the 07-08 version. Bigger brakes, better handling, and an increase in torque and HP makes it the strongest 600 (so far) on the market for 09. Plus the dead-sexiness is free!

In all honesty...

You may be right...

Just the exhaust can (not including mid pipe muffler) on my 08 10r was $1000...

They've gotta pass emissions somehow. Inflation sucks, prices all over increase, and yet our paychecks dont...

Purely from an aesthetic point of view, my $.02 is that kawi's dropped the ball with the past two supersports. Performance-wise, they've both been some of the most track-oriented, well engineered bikes I've seen. Looks like a beast, but it probby performance like one too

I don't know, Kawi took the winning formula that made thier new 08 ZX10R popular and applied it to thier 600. The 08 ZX10R was superbike of the year, don't be suprised to see the 600 top the supersport pile in 09.

Well that's what I'm saying, is that it's probby a monster performance-wise & on the track. on the showroom floor, neither the new 6 nor last year's 10 are gonna win any beauty pagents. Pull the rear pegs, the fender, & replace the paddle w/a GP exhaust (which is exactly the way Kawi designed it to be) and then the black one has some potential, but I like the looks & performance of my '07 just fine!

Is this the first year that none of the for major Japanese manufacturers have offered an undertail exhaust in like five or six years?? I think the '08 6r was the last one to have an undertail come stock.

I thought the CBR600 still has an undertail

Actually Honda had an undertail on thier 08, but just like Kawi don't be suprised if the new Honda 600 looks similar to its bigger brother.

^^I'd agree with that too. The 1000 rr was another successful bike, much like the 10r

In the early 2000's Kawasaki made the absolute best STREET bikes. Comfortable ergo's, manageable hp and torque. But the customers (both you and I) wanted the biggest baddest bikes that we could buy... After a few years Kawasaki has finally jumped into the market with their current lineup.

I do believe the R1 still has the undertail exhaust...

I needs the old kawi design team back for it to be a winner.

I think what there are starting to do is get customers for life. getting them started now on the smaller bikes which they have made look better like the ninja 250 650 stuff like. Yet the 6 and 10 look kinda like ass but are both kick ass bikes from performance stand points. Aiming it at the riders that are in it to ride not just to have the best looking bike they could have. Thus keeping people from wanting to buy the bigger bike cause it looks better and ends up hurting themself if not killing themselfs and making the sport look bad.

I'll be the first to admit, I've had 4 Kawi's now, a 6, 7, and two 10's...

I dont like the looks of my new 10, but damn is it a monster!!! I love riding it! And thats what counts...

Oh, well the new 10 does look damn sexy in race trim

yeah the zx-10 kind of set a new standard last year with that monster engine last year.

I still like the '05-'06 design the best. When I first went on Kawi's website to check out the zx6, I thought I was looking at the zx10. Look damn near identical.

As much as I love my honda, I still miss my 636.

I don't like how they're making it look like a mini 10R. What has Kawi become slowzuki?

You guys must have missed how bad the 10R has been in about every single high level national and international racing series. Some bike rags may like it, but it has been less than competitive on most stages besides whatever Hacker can do with it in the AMA. Woho! Now that's raising the bar. :p

^^^Funny it won the Canadian Superbike series by a landslide, Hacker has done well on the bike this season. WSBK has been an atrocity with Laconi and Tamada at the wheel, in fact Bodovinni is doing better on the Gen 2 (06-07) model.

I like my '07 6R but I'd take a green '09 if it was given to me. I'd buy an '08 10R though instead of getting an '09 that looks like an '08 10R.

i love the tank/tail section and obviously the performance, but i think they should regress to the 00-02 front and side fairings, by far my favorite (thats probably why i own a zx6r and zx9r that style). and that pipe has got to GO!
