Hey Everyone,

Haven't been on here in a while...used to lurk a few years ago. Been lurking and posting more recently and have been on a couple of rides with yous guize. Anyway, I just got a new bike and sold a couple. My new bike is a KTM 690 Duke III. It's a thumper (single cylinder) and is a sportbike through and through. It's like a motard with street suspension.

This thing totally rips. It came stock with top-notch suspension, marchesini wheels, fuel injection, and a slipper clutch (that I've already used a lot). Riding it is like using a scalpel to carve canyons.

Here are some pics...

That is a sick looking bike i like the headlight set up. How does that single cylinder thing work out for ya? I have hear mixed things about single cylinder engines.

This singles have a lot more torque down low and a lot less top-end for similarly displaced twins or 4's. Most of the time, the umph for singles is in the middle of the powerband meaning that you have to quick shift for maximum acceleration. However, KTM has this thing mapped (it has FI) very, very linearly...giving about the same torque at all RPS. What does this mean for riding? I can nail it coming out of a corner at any speed and it stays glued to the pavement (not too much torque). This bike actually pulls like a sportbike, but the limiter kicks in around 10,000. It's not going to get anywhere near the top-speed of my old RC51, but that's not what I'm looking for anymore. I wanted a bike that I throw around in the corners and this is the one.

Yeah...gonna miss it, but it was time for it to go. I'll have the Duke for twisties now and am planning on getting a larger bike for touring next summer so me and the wife can pack up and enjoy our summers off. Prolly get a BMW or KTM...one of those really big dirt bike things. Just saw you're getting out of supermoto?
