I'm new to carbs and I was wondering if there is there an easy way to figure out what size jets i should have in my bike. I have a 1989 Yamaha FZR400, it has a full v&h pipe with individual air cleaners. When I Get up around 8K rpm it chokes hard, also when I pull up to a light I get high off the fuel fumes.

Check out www.xjbikes.com (http://www.xjbikes.com)

There are a few thread on the forum there that have good explanations and formulas to determine what jet sizes you need.

With your intake and exhaust mods, you are probably going to want to start about four sizes larger than stock on your main jets. also, you will probably need to up the pilot jets one or two sizes and raise the needles.

Jetting for modified intakes and exhausts can be a real bitch to get right. There is a lot of trial and error involved.

Do a Google search, there may be an FZR forum out there with someone on it who has done all of the experimenting and figured out the best jetting for your setup.
