Clarkie had a big crash at PPIR today and is in the hospital in Colorado Springs. He is stable at this time. In the interest of privacy I'd rather let his family post up any further info about his condition.

Please keep him in your thoughts over the coming days and weeks.

Stay strong brother.

I've met Clarkie a few times in Pueblo and he is honestly one of the friendliest racers out there. Always willing to have a talk with you in the pits and give some tips to a first year noob.
i hope he heals up quick.

does anyone know where at PPIR he went down? or what happened to cause the crash?

A quick update for those not following the getwellclarkie.com website

The docs woke Aaron up for a short time yesterday. He opened his eyes and was able to respond to verbal stimulus. When asked he was able to raise his eyebrow and raise 2 fingers.

This is fantastic progress, but he's not out of the woods yet. There is a long long recovery ahead and he needs all the support we can give him. Please check out the auctions if you can't afford to donate directly. There is some amazing stuff being donated and all the proceeds are going directly to Aaron.

TTT...

Just a reminder of a great guy dealing with some difficult circumstances. If you folks might even be able to donate what it takes to fill up the tank on your bike, that would really help out Aaron, Tedi, Scott and the rest of the family during this time. I'm only guessing that the medical bills are surely going to be very high.

Thanks again for any help you guys can provide.

rybo
Mon Oct 20th, 2008, 10:07 AM
It's going to be a big day for Clarkie as the first of his surgeries is scheduled for today. He's been breathing on his own, is off of the sedatives (but still on pain meds) and the infection in his lungs is improving.

Also keep in mind Aaron's family as they keep watch over him.

He was between 130 and 140 when the bike went down, probably 90ish when he hit the wall. The first figure I'm rather certain of, the second is a somewhat educated guess.

I've been first on scene for literally hundreds of MRA crashes and have seen some rather hairy stuff, but this was something I hope I never have to experience again.

Aaron, you're in my thoughts every day. Keep fighting.

As most of you probably know, Clarkie has made his way back to New Zealand. It appears things are improving for him and the team there are doing a heck of a job getting him going and attaining some goals during his recovery.

If you have a few minutes, visit his site by clicking on the signature below. Catch up on how he's doing. I'm sure he would love to hear from any of you and perhaps, wish him a happy holidays.

Take care,
