Couldn't find an appropriate area in the forums for this... so I'll just post it here.

How strict are CO cops on fender eliminators? I know back where I'm from in Maryland that you will get a fix-it ticket if you have a fender eliminator way under your tail.

And yes, I know it's better to have your license plate more readily visible if your bike gets stolen, I am just researching my options since the fender on my CBR is heinous.

I can vouch for the ugly myself. there is more plastic in that rear wing on the CBR then in the fenders.

from what I have found out is that everything has to be visible. so the plate has to be well lit, and turn signals along with the break light are going to be noticeable when in use.

so if you slap the tag on the swing arm and only have the top of the plate showing. the cop is going to be more likely to give you a stern talking to.

this is a good example from what I've read so far

also for the CBR stuff go check out www.600rr.net (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/www.600rr.net) it's heaven for are bikes

It's a Honda so you get what you pay for. But I would suggest either making it look like it was made that way or doing your best to makes sure the plate can be seen from the back at night. As long as its eluminated you can put it where ever you want. (mind you that is not what the law says but it will keep you in the good graces of the lawmen)

Just keep it visible. If it's too far under the tail, what they do depends on what you did. Most likely you will just get warned to fix it, but if you got pulled over doing something naughty they might ticket you for that as well.

Ooooh, I like that. Did you get that off 600rr.net or somewhere else? That is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a bikelitez fender elim on my 08 1000RR and it sits way under the tail. All the law reads is that it has to be visible from 50' and illuminated if riding at night. I outfit some of the agencies here in CO and have asked a few friends. One is a hi-po and the other is a seargent with Loveland over the traffic division and he said it was fine. Pretty much unless you're being an asshat they won't bother you.

Turn signals are not required in CO so they're not regulated.

Funny I just put a stock fender (thanks Dana) on my 600rr, the geto-fab fender eliminator was crap and begged for me to get pulled over.

Most of 'em are overpriced for just a piece of plastic & some bolts that you can get at Lowes. Just make sure you know where EVERYTHING is in your tail section before remounting everything so you don't drill through the ECU like some fucktards...

Ugly? Yes. So do you guy prefer to get sprayed in the back by dirty water or what? I've never understood the fender eliminator thing and I wish someone would explain it to me.

It is purely for looks. Removing the giant spaceship from the back of the bike cleans up the look and makes the tail look more race-like.

I have been in the snow and rain on my CBR with the fender off and have had no issues with getting stuff slung up.

Yeah I have no "shovel" on mine and I dont really notice me getting dirty. The back the bike does but not me.

Well, I don't generally ride like an idiot. In fact on the street (this excludes the twisties), I generally ride more conservatively than I do in my car.

Would this kit be a definite no-no? I'm thinking it might be stupid in general to have the brake like way under the tail like that as well unless the LEDs on it are super bright.

Edit: Also found this one which probably wouldn't get me in trouble. They have it for a lot cheaper on ebay.

Go here: http://www.tripageled.com/main.html

Really cool options for lighting and turn signals on the CBR. If you are keeping your reat pegs, check out the LED kit he makes for them :)

Yeah I checked out tripage, I'm not the most mechanically inclined so I would most likely mess up the installation. The passenger peg LEDs are really cool though. I might go with the CA tail light/turn signals, but I don't know for sure. Plus they seem relatively expensive compared to bikelitez.
