So does anyone know when casinos will be allowing higher betting limits?

July 1, 2009 if I remember reading about it correctly. Most laws or Amendments that get passed, take 6 to 9 months to go into affect.

Each gambling town (Cripple Creek, Black Hawk, and Central City) still has to vote on the Amend. for their respective towns The earliest can will go into effect will be July 1, 2009 ...assuming the Colorado Dept. of Gaming will have thier rules and regulations in place by then. And then it will be up to each individual casino as to whether or not they 1.) have craps and roulette tables 2.) choose to raise their limits up to $100 and 3.) stay open 24 hours a day.

Look for the big casinos in (i.e. Ameristar, The Lodge, Isle of Capri, Colorado Central Station, Fortune Valley) to be onboard from Day 1. The others will more than likely mix and match as they try to find the right combination of money makers in this crappy economy.

:wtf:

I don't mean to nit-pick, but since we've had our political differences, I have to ask.... Did you even read the Amendement?

It was just a vote to determine whether or not the individual cities would be allowed to vote on it. Nothing is "going into affect" with this one.

...

EDIT: Thank you.... kidicarus.

Then I must be misunderstanding this from the text of the amendment:

(d) AFTER JULY 1, 2009, THE COMMISSION SHALL IMPLEMENT REVISIONS TO LIMITS ON GAMING AS APPROVED BY VOTERS IN THE CITIES OF CENTRAL, BLACK HAWK, OR CRIPPLE CREEK. THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IS ALSO AUTHORIZED TO ENACT, AS NECESSARY, LEGISLATION THAT WILL FACILITATE THE OPERATION OF THIS SUBSECTION (7).

Does that mean something else?

Well I suppose that depends on how you're interpreting what you've just quoted.

If you're interpreting it to say that Amendment 50 (since its passing), will allow the cities therein to vote on increasing the max-bet limit, extend casino hours, and approve additional games, then no..... no misunderstanding.

If you're interpreting it to say that Amendment 50 (since its passing), will now allow the cities therein to increase the max-bet limit, extend casino hours, and approve additional games, with no further discussion, then yes... misunderstanding.

Bottom Line:
The vote on A50 was just an amendment that will now allow another vote. There are no realized changes (as of yet), due to its passing.

When Titus asked his question and he was answered by TBK, it was very misleading at best, and out-and-out wrong at worst. :dunno:

Ok, so TBK should have said "July 1 at the earliest, assuming the respective towns approve it."?

If you have to ask. (?)

Just trying to understand why you were busting his balls. :) Seemed like a pretty innocuous answer to me, even if technically not 100% accurate.

I don't really like TDK. :p

And for as well researched as he would have us believe in various political arenas, when somebody asks him "when are the limits going up now that 50 has passed?", I just figured he owed them a far better answer.

You know you're hilarious. I try and keep my posts down to a minimum and I still get railed for it. Run to long, then I get blamed for being overbearing, long-winded and obnoxious. Keep them short, and I get blamed for not being informative enough.

I wasn't saying that the specific amendment got passed or didn't get passed. Only elaborated on the fact that when alot of things that do get passed, it takes 6 to 9 months before they go into effect.

Sorry I didn't live up to your standard of excellence in forum posting and information based comments 100% of the time. You'll get over it though.

Well you figured wrong, like I said I just kept the answer brief. Didn't know I was going to offend so many people with just a short answer. But if that's what fires your rockets then so be it.

Well if you feel so inclined, why don't bring Vegasbound and yourself down to little old Colorado Springs and I'll be more than happy to ship you both back in a pine box free of charge. :doublefinger:

All the voting in the gabling towns should be done by the end of January....http://www.9news.com/news/local/article.aspx?storyid=103938&catid=346
