It is happening on December 7 this year. I am planning to be there again this year as long as the roads aren't covered with snow and ice. Anybody want to join me?

You Know I'm Gonna Be There!!
I think this will be my 5th year.

I got those elec grips mounted on Monica's bike, and wired it for her vest,
so she'll have no excuse not to be there either.

Let me know When/Where, Wade!

I'd be willing to do it, as long as I don't have to work. It's kind of a toss up for me right now. It sounds like it would be fun riding with that many bikes at one time.

It's about 10 min from my house, but I don't mind going out of my way for some biscuits and gravy.
Unfortunately, the KrispyKreme in Aurora shut down.

From the website:
"Pre-registration for the Toy Run will take place at any metro-area Harley-Davidson dealership (Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson, Mile High Harley-Davidson, Sun Harley-Davidson, Freedom Harley-Davidson) prior to the day of the event. There will be no registration the day of the event."

Even though I don't see them turning away bikes that morning, I am not going to chance it.

I hope the route will not just go down Colfax. A 3 mile straight line won't be as interesting as the last years' routes.

I hope the route will not just go down Colfax. A 3 mile straight line won't be as interesting as the last years' routes.

I think they thought the highways (mostly I-25) was too dangerous for that many bikers, they did have the guy crash real bad on I-25. A 3 mile ride would be kind of lame, but I will be going no matter what.

rforsythe
Wed Nov 19th, 2008, 07:32 AM
Guess we'll see on the route. I agree a three mile straight line would suck, but hopefully it's more interesting. The path last year was a disaster; mixing with the traffic on the interstates was spooky, and I believe there were actually two wrecks with one guy hurt bad. With the other crash I passed everyone was standing up.

Definitely attending this year, last year I attended along with my friend ryan and his gf's parents even though I had to push my bike through ice all over my neighborhood to be able to get out till almost belleview and wads lol. It was worth it even if I have to do it this year again lol..... hopefully a lot more sport bikers will join us this year though

Where ever, it doesn't matter to me. If the weather is nice enough, I might haul the bike over to your place so Blake can ride with me.

I hope the route will not just go down Colfax. A 3 mile straight line won't be as interesting as the last years' routes.

If the roads are bad, we could ride the 50's.

Update for everybody...
I went to SunHD today to register, I put my name/addy/phone on a sheet, and they handed me a waiver that I will have to fill out before the event. The receptionist agreed that they will probably not turn anybody away the morning of, but they want to have an idea of how many bikes are going to show up. I also signed up my sister, who was not there, so if you went in there with a list of all of your buddies, that would probably be fine.

THE CATCH---Which ever HD Dealer you register at, you are supposed to meet there at 8am the morning of!! This could be an inconvenience for somebody, especially if you prefer to meet your friends at a breakfast joint. I don't want to discourage anybody from not registering, but they are making this a bit more work than it should be.

I hope this doesn't inhibit anybody from showing up and supporting an Incredible cause. I am 90% sure that if you just want to show up like in the past, they will welcome you (as much as they welcome the non-harleys, which isn't too bad).

Ooooh, I just had a brilliant idea. Somebody let me know where I could post up an image of the waiver, so anybody who wanted to print up a copy of it prior could get at it???

You're in luck!

How much does it cost to go on the Toy Run?

The only cost to participate in the 23rd Annual Toy Run to The Children's Hospital is a new, unwrapped toy. To get an idea of what the kids at The Children's Hospital need, download their wish list (http://www.rmh-d.com/pdf/docs/2006-wish-list.pdf) (requires Adobe Acrobat (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)).

Just a caution for those trying to pre-register as we just did... I'm not sure if this is just a Freedom HD thing or what, but they are only accepting pre-reg from 5-6pm Tue-Fri next week, and all day on Saturday the 6th. They wouldn't let us do it today. They also said we had to bring our toys with us to register. Like others have pointed out you cannot show up to the ride if you haven't pre-registered.

I don't know if RMHD or other shops have these same stupid restrictions on signing the form, but be aware that you might not be able to register when you think you can if you just show up at one of these shops. Guess we will try again next Saturday...

asp_125
Fri Nov 28th, 2008, 09:03 PM
I registered at Sun today and there were no such stupid restrictions. Just walked in and filled out the pre-reg form and got my armband. They did say no armband=no entry to Aurora Sports Park. Looks like from the registration paperwork that the ride from Aurora Sports Park will be straight down Colfax to CHS (3.5mi). The girl at Sun HD said this year they will be group riding from each of the HD dealerships. I asked if we'll be able to split off and join friends once we get to Aurora Sport Park and she said probably; so CSC can regroup if we're not meeting up before then.

rforsythe
Fri Nov 28th, 2008, 09:11 PM
Yeah, the paperwork I saw said the dealership was having people meet up who would then leave from there to go to the park. I'm still all for a CSC breakfast and all of us going to the park as a group so we can ride together, I'm not planning on going to a HD shop just to ride with 500 other people to the place we're actually gonna leave from.

Joe
Sat Nov 29th, 2008, 06:31 PM
Now I am frustrated...
I was ok with Preregistration
I was disappointed with having to pre-stage at a HD Dealership
I am frustrated that they are requiring armbands, and they didn't give them to me
I am pissed that Ralph got turned away while trying to jump through these hoops

I am a HUGE fan of this event and its cause, but screw them.
Somebody post up a picture of the armband, since they messed up and didn't give me (or my sister, or the two other people I "registered" with) one to begin with.

rforsythe
Sat Nov 29th, 2008, 06:52 PM
Well, nothing I saw said we *had* to pre-stage at a HD dealership. In fact the RMHD details say the park opens at 9am but nothing else about getting there, other than you have to show up with a band. So I have every intention of meeting up with CSC'ers for breakfast and riding in as a group. I don't shop at Harley Davidson dealerships, so I see no reason I should ride from one.

The registration process this year is ridiculous; it sounds like I wasn't the only one to get annoyed with it.

All I can suggest is you go back and demand your arm-bands since you will need them. For everyone else, don't leave the shop without them!

Nick_Ninja
Sat Nov 29th, 2008, 08:02 PM
Any road that is used by the Toy Run organizers is still a municipal thoroughfare and you have as much right to travel it to the hospital as they do. I say screw the registration altogether.

Thanks. I will stop by Sun this next week and get the bands, and hopefully will be done with the whole process at that point.

Agreed about the public roadway idea. Hopefully there will be enough Harleys who know nothing about the registration process that RMHD will get a clue and do it differently next year.

Then again, it could end up with 3 feet of snow, and I wouldn't even be able to drive there. I'd steal my neighbor's truck and put my bike in the back.

You guys can meet up where you want, but I'd still suggest you be at VI by about 9:15ish to move out. You will not be able to get with everyone else once we're at the park, you do the ride in the order you got there in. The only way the CSC will stay as a group is if we arrive together.

Registered today at Sun with no problems.

Another good reason not to go to a HD shop on Sunday morning: With the possibility of 10,000 bikes and a limited number of HD shops, I hope they are ready for all the traffic problems they will create. The only part of the ride that is police escorted is the part from the Sports Complex to the hospital.

Just want to give a quick shout-out to one of our recent newies, Wyck.

Even though neither she nor I was able to attend the CSC run this year, I did happen to go on one this past Sunday to Children's Hospital, in conjunction with the Colorado Mazda Club.

Kristina was kind enough to give a gift to me, to take on her behalf, when she came and picked up a UFC DVD from me. Totally unscripted, she did it out of her own kindness, and I wanted to let everybody know.
