View Full Version : Finally getting a "new" bike

My dad has decided he's got too many bikes and is passing the RZ350 keys to me. It's an 84 two stroke with the full Toomey race kit on it. It's pretty loud but still street legal. She'll make a nice Sunday bike, me thinks.

Remarkably similar to this one (I don't have any pics of my dad's bike but it's near perfect):

I built one of these in the mid 90s, and it was utterly impossible to ride in a socially responsible manner. Congratulations, and may God have mercy on your license.

Yeah. It are a fun bike to ride. Been stopped so a admiring cop could check it out a few times. :D

I'll need to work on getting him to hand-me-down the CBX next!!

He's got a stable full of old bikes. He's still got the bike I learned to ride on: a 74 TY80 trails bike. Has a 74 R90S (first one ever brought to US soil); I'll never own it - it's going to my nephew since he helped my dad restore it. Couple of TY250s, too.

Now all you need to do is ride the RZ through Boulder....in 1st gear....with the oil pump wide open.

You lying SOB!
I seem to recall you saying when he decided to get rid of it you were gonna sell it to me.
I hate you.[/jealousy]

Oh well, can't blame ya for keeping it in the family.
Look forward to seeing it out and about sometime soon.
Maybe I'll finally have the RD completed soon and we'll do a little blue smoke run.

BTW,
Rick (RBL454) has put together a vintage/2-stroke club based out of the west slope.
He's planning to do some rally/rides next year. I'll be sure to let you know when they go down.

The most amazing thing about this entire thread is that Silva is posting on the CSC on a Saturday.

Fourth time in 10 years I've had to come in on the weekend and work.
I think I'll sue.

Not you, Sean... the Feminist-nonshaving-dope smoking-communist-tree hugger-vegan-PETA-ecoterrorist-prairie dog saving-snooty-suburbanite-hippy-professional student types that think they can run my life better than I can. :321:

The other 1 percent of Boulderites (like you) are just peachy!

He wouldn't happen to have any old Interceptors would he? :) Those RZs are awesome bikes to ride.

Was out riding around Carter Lake today and saw an Interceptor. Don't see many on the road anymore.

Nice bike. Has your dad fully recovered from his accident down under?

He's actually doing pretty well. I can't ride a normal bike anymore; his left shoulder doesn't rotate. Now he's got a BMW K1200LT trike that's he's already racking up the miles on. He just got back from his first bike tour since his accident (South Africa) where he drove the chase van and squared away getting people checked in at the hotels and things.

Maybe a Can-Am Spyder is in his future…looks like a barrel of fun!

Quite a generous offer Paul, it being so old and all, but I'm gonna see if I can find a ride down there first. :D
