Hi-

Im new in here...I rode an R1 til I got hit by a drunk driver on the 14th of October. I walked away, and they caught the guy, so now I'm in the market for a new bike. Anyone who knows of a Ducati 998, 848, 1098, 04+ R1, 07+ CBR1000RR, Aprilia RSV1000R for sale in the $9kish range, lemme know. I'm only really interested in these particular ones.... Thanks!

Shaun

You can pickup a brand new 08 1000RR from OTD cycles for about 10k. It's by far the best of the new bikes....

Lots of 998's in the classifieds. You should be able to find a nice 998 for around 9k right now.

A 1098 will be much harder to come by in the 9k price range. OKD has an 07 1098S Tricolore. It's a hell of a machine and a damn sexy bike, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy one... His horror story is at http://www.ducati-lies.com

Our economy has a lot of people in a cash crunch right now, so what you'll find are lots of bikes that are still being financed and don't have clear titles.

If you have the cash, you should be able to find a sweet duc or cbr. I would shop around and be picky. Good luck in your search.

Why spend the extra money on "flat lander" 1K when good riders will kick your butt through the canyons on a 600cc.

This is true, I told a coworker that I would be faster on his 600 (that I've never ridden) than he would be on my 1000 anywhere, anytime. He doesn't believe me....

Well, out of all of those bikes, the one I would like the most would be a white 848. They are just pretty tough to come by....

I've not had much experience on 600s... I don't doubt they can move. Either bike is tough/dangerous to really push the limits on outside the track. Having said that, it's a 7 day a week thing that I rip up Boulder Canyon, Lefthand and/or Coal Creek. I could crank over the R1 no problem and click my knees if I really wanted to. Then again, like I said, I haven't had a similar opportunity on a 600 that I've been willing to push (because it's mine and not my buddies), so maybe that'd be better.

However, for anyone who has ridden an R1 or other liter bike, you can never deny the fun it is getting out of a red light and onto the freeway at odd hours...

This is true. I have both and I prefer the GSXR 1000. The R6 is fun and fast in the canyons but I like the power of the Liter. As far as the canyons my old V-twin (TL1000s) was a hell of a time.

You can't get a 600, after having liter power you'll get so fackin mad at yourself you'll sell it. I'll admit I'm faster on a 600 IN THE CORNERS but most roads have nice straights too and there's nothing like pickin up the front end for take-off on a liter bike.

Can we not turn this into a debate about whether a liter bike or 600 is better? It's safe to say, either one is sufficient to get you a ticket with the throttle pinned.

I want a liter bike. Just my preference. The one bike I want that isn't, is an 848 and that's the one I actually want the most (knowing a 1098 is not likely to come around at that price). So let me know if you have something for sale that fits what I listed above. I have cash in hand, am ready to buy, and I just need to find the right ride. Thanks to the offers for the sellers with 600s, just not what I'm looking for...

Ducati 1098, 848, 998, S4RS
Aprilia RSV1000R
Yamaha YZF-R1
Honda CBR1000RR

Prolly even in that order. Thanks for any leads you can offer me...

I saw an ad on denver craigslist a few weeks back for a 998 in the 9k price range. Im sure it's long gone by now, but surely there are others that people have discovered they can no longer afford to keep.

Fremont motorsports down here seems to move a lot of bikes during the off season, and always has good deals. I have never fully understood how... I have never seen a Duc in their showroom though.

I saw that CBR...its pretty damn sweet, if I could find someone with black plastics for it, I'd probably jump on it. I just got a bunch of Dainese gear tho and I kinda got the Italian bug tho...

I'll just say that Curtis takes VERY nice care of his bikes and you couldn't go wrong with a deal from him.
