I want to buy a suit but want something that looks fashionable not something an old man would wear. Anyone know of a place around town where they might have what I'm looking for? Willing to pay upto $800. Does anyone have any hook ups? LMK Thanks

Nordtrom's mens dept rocks. I wish they treated us in the women's department so well.

You can get a VERY nice looking suit. However, it won't happen for $800 unless they are having smokin sales right now.

But they have nice stuff and take very good care of you.

Go find a great suit at Macy's or Dillards for cheap and have it tailored well. Even a $2k suit can look like crap if it is not fitted to you.

K&G on Colorado Blvd.

They have great sales and they are more European styled (actually Italian and Belarus suits).

They have onstaff tailors

I was in need of a "Marry 'em & Bury 'em" suit a couple of years back... I went to Men's Warehouse and got a nice suit for around 500. They will tailor it for free as well.

Might try some of the outlets at Colorado Mills? Of course you will have to get it tailored just like any other.....

i have an awesome 3 button suit, looks great, fits perfect. all i had to do was have the pants hemmed as they came unfinished (which is good cause i am so tall) ....... and i bought it brand new online for 50.....yep.....50 buckeroos. also have a tuxedo same deal that i got for 150. if you know youre size there are killer deals to be found online.

How much does it usually run to get something tailored?

Sortarican

Oh yeah,
If you're short and stocky go with a two button, taller go with a three.

Seriously, check ebay and craigslist.
There's a lot of out of work investment bankers out there selling off their wardrobe.

Tailoring:
Free if the suit is overpriced to begin with.
$10-$20 for the Korean dry cleaners wife to do just the pants and/or sleeves. (Don't be fooled, most of them have real talent.)
$60+ if you have the jacket taken in, sleeves and pants hemmed by a reputable tailor.

That's the reason I went there... I needed a suit for the weekend, they had it tailored in 24 hours. Plus, I've lost some weight and working on losing more, they will take it in for free.

Ya it helps you cause your tall its a limited market trying to resale some thing .
Me bring 5 ft 7 in I have a lot more people just as short so they can charge more cause the market is there.

oh boy are you wrong.....firstly its hard as shit for me to find stuff for tall and thin. secondly if i find it its usually way overpriced cause it is a "special size" and if its not theres already 3 other brothers fightin over it.

But K&G fixed me up.

imagine how hard it is to find a suit that fits right when youre 6'5" and weigh in at 180#.....which happens to be a good weight to hieght ratio, but apparently in america a guys waist HAS to be BIGGER around than his legs are long.

I just paid $60 per suit to get the jacket fitted and the pants hemmed. So, I guess that's fairly standard, but like someone said, it's the difference between a suit that looks good on the rack and one that looks good on you.

Try Nordstrom Rack in Park Meadows.
:imwithstupid: Or any Nordstrom Rack.

Side note, i worked at Nordstrom back in Cali and they have a lot of nice suits, Anywhere from $500 - $3000. You can find a nice Red Label Hugo Boss suit for around $800.

But definitely check out Nordstrom Rack. The rack is where clothes go that don't sell in the regular Nordstrom for 3 months. You can find smokin deals in there.

Make sure you get the right size. Suits come in Short, Regular, and Tall. And make sure you get it tailored.
