efferson County district attorney's spokeswoman Pam Russell says Martin is free on $10,000 bail and has been told to report to the state hospital when a bed becomes available, expected in two or three weeks.

compassion:
a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.

Is there profit from other people's suffering?
