OK guys and girls of CSC. Here is your chance to show off your bike skills, win great prizes and help raise money for one of the best causes I know of.

This is the 2nd Annual Civilian Top Gun Competition. Last year it was at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, this year it will held May 17 at Invesco Field at Mile High. If you went last year, you know it was a great time, and this year is going to MUCH BIGGER.

This year there will be 4 classes: Sport Bike, Cruiser/Touring, Scooters, and Wheel Chair. There will be prizes (including at least one new motorcycle) for top finishers in each class.

In addition to the motorcycle competition, the Vietnam Traveling Wall Memorial will be on site for the event. This traveling wall is an 80% replica of the memorial in Washington D.C. That means it is 370 ft long, and 8 1/2 ft tall at its highest point. I have seen the original, as well as this version, and they both broke my heart.:(

The Memorial is also much more than the wall only. There are seperate memorials for WWII, Korea, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, 9/11, and police/firefighters. No matter what your stance on war is, this memorial is not political. It is also not a war memorial. It is a memorial to men and woman that have given their lives.

There will be a lot going on for the whole family. Attendance is just a recommended donation of $20 (but if you can't afford it, come anyway). To compete, it costs $50. ALL MONEY RAISED GOES TO "HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS" and are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

"Homes for Our Troops" is an organization (www.homesforourtroops.org (http://www.homesforourtroops.org)) that builds homes for soldiers that have suffered devastating injuries. Matt and Tracy Keil of Parker were the first recipients of a new home here in Colorado. Another home is currently being built for a Marine in Ft. Collins.

As an Army vet (11C1P) myself, with a son that has just joined the Marine Corps, this event means a lot to me. I would love to see CSC and every club in the state show up to support these soldiers and show our appreciation for their sacrifices.

There will be much more going on, and I will try to share all of the events planned once they are firmed up. The Special Forces Group from Ft. Carson is working out the legalities of doing a jump into Invesco, as well as many other fantastic things in the works. More details will be posted at www.t3rg.com (http://www.t3rg.com)
Anyone wanting to help out with this event (and it would sincerely appreciated) whether it be financially or helping out with the days activities, please call the T3RG office at 303-433-9424.

Also, if you run a business and would like to have a booth at the event, we have various sizes available.

Thanks!

Dean

Just an update for anyone that is a vet, family of a vet, supports vets, or wants to learn how to support vets. The Traveling Vietnam Wall Memorial will now be arriving at Invesco Field Thursday night, May 14. I have to find 15 people to help the crew assemble the wall that night. Please let me know if interested.

Friday, May 15 will be reserved for schools to bring kids to see the wall. We are also working with area nursing/assisted living homes to bring their vets that day. Think the two groups really should meet.

Am also looking for many other volunteers & equipment for things that have to be done to support the wall (we must provide 24 hour security, tents, generators for lighting the wall at night, and much more). The more I can get for free, the more will be donated to Homes for Our Troops. This is competely a non-profit event, as all proceeds go to people that count.

And if you compete in the Top Gun event, you might just win a new motorcycle.

Thanks

Thanks Steve

Response has been huge from most of the community, and the event just keeps getting bigger. Many great vendors signing up for booth space, military planning on supporting things in a big way, Young Marines providing Wall security (with the help of some special ops guys), and many area vets being brought out of those nursing homes to see this great memorial.

I guess it takes a vet to understand what these things truly mean. Stay safe Steve, and we will see you at next years event.

Hello everyone!

Just have some updates on our May charity event.

Traveling Vietnam Wall is coming through Limon May 14. The Patriot Guard, American Legion Riders, MSF Rider Coaches, Leathernecks, and many others are planning to meet the Wall in Limon and escort it to Invesco Field. We are welcoming any and all riders that would like to help escort, and I really don't want to be the only guy on a sportbike. Please bring your bike and yourself if you can make it. We will be heading to Denver promptly at 11:00, so please be in Limon by 10:30 AM.
Sunday, May 17 is the big day, with all of the vendors, motorcycle competition, military displays, and concession stands. These concession stands are the same as the ones inside the stadium, so if you would rather bring your own food, please do.
First prize in the sportbike class is a 2009 Kawasaki ZX6R.
First Prize in the scooter class will be a brand new scooter.
First place in the cruiser class will be a new cruiser, but I can't tell you what type or brand it will be yet. We are still searching for a dealer that will help us out with one.
First prize in the wheel chair class will be a SCUBA certification done inside the Denver Aquarium in one of the fish tanks.
Second and third place prizes are pretty cool as well. I will share all of them soon.

Friday, May 15 is dedicated to area school students and nursing/assisted living homes so their vets and families of vets can see the Memorials. There are over 100 veterans coming from these facilities, and so far about 1000 students. We think the two groups should meet and learn something about each others era.

Saturday, May 16 we are dedicating to local law enforcement and firefighters to pay tribute to the sacrifices they make for us everyday.

Also, we have decided admission should be free to all, so that's what it is. The motorcycle competition costs just $50 to compete, and you might just win a new bike.

There are five bands that have donated their time to us, so they will be going all day.

A professional documentary video is going to made of the event, and channel 7 and channel 20 will be there for the festivities.

Again, admission and parking are free to all. And the Memorials are lighted, guarded, and available for viewing 24 hours a day for anyone.

If anyone has a company and would like to buy extremely reasonable booth space(which all goes to Homes for Our Troops), please get in touch with me. Or if you just want to volunteer to help us with parking, crowd control, lining up competitors, or just about anything else, please call me.
There are practice sessions available every weekend until the event, and the places and times are posted at www.t3rg.com (http://www.t3rg.com). These sessions will give you the general idea on what to expect, but will not be exactly what you see on the day of the competition. Nobody gets to ride the real course for practice.

If anyone has any questions at all, please call me, 720-252-4317

Thanks for your support to this worthy cause.

Practice sessions for May 17th event are happening every weekend until the day of. Next one is at Fay Myers on Saturday during the open house. Time is not set because we will be working the sessions during the breaks the freestyle and stunt riders take.

Remember first prize in the sportbike class is a 2009 ZX6R Kawi. Not bad for a $50 entry.

The courses will not be exactly what you will see on May 17, but will give you an idea of what to expect. We will be doing practice sessions for sportbikes, cruisers/touring bikes, and scooters.

More info at www.t3rg.com (http://www.t3rg.com) or call 303-433-9424.

Thanks

Dean

Another update:

Winner of the wheelchair competion this year will get to snorkel inside the Denver Aquarium, swimming with LARGE fish. A local SCUBA school has donated 6 classes to us for the wheelchair class. Winner gets to swim in the aquarium with the fish, and the other five will be done at the schools swimming pool

This is very cool.

Event is this weekend!

It has been a long, stressful trip, but we are finally there.

Vietnam Traveling Wall and Memorials come to Denver Thursday afternoon. We are riding out to Limon Thursday morning to meet the Wall, and escort it to Invesco Field. We are heading to Denver at 11:00 am sharp, and should be at Invesco by 1:00 pm at the latest. Once we set them up (5 hour job, so if you are interested in helping, please let me know) they are available to experience 24 hours a day until Monday morning. And of course free. The Memorial is lighted and guarded at night, and anyone that prefers to visit at night, or whatever time is more comfortable for them, please feel free. Memorial will be in parking lot "D" at Invesco.

Sunday May 17 is still the big day. It all starts at 8:00 am and goes until 5:00 pm. All activities that day happen in parking lot "C" at Invesco. That way the Wall will be away from the noise and activity of the day. As it should be.

Sport Bikes, Cruiser/Touring bikes, and Scooters will all have their own specific courses layed out with cones and/or painted lines. Winners in each class get some fairly amazing prizes. Sport Bike winner receives an brand new 2009 Kawasaki ZX6-R Ninja, Cruiser class winner receives a brand new 2009 Kawasaki 900 Vulcan. There are also prizes for runners up.

That's not a bad deal for a $50 entry fee.

Courses will be low speed obstacle type challenges, and you will be timed and assesed penalties for knocking down or hitting cones.

The Sport Bike course WILL NOT be set up in the fashion of the police officers Top Gun competition. The cruiser/touring class will be. Best way to visualize what the sport bike course will be is to compare it to a tight, twisty Kart track, marked by cones.

If you have any questions about the courses or the event, please call T3RG at 303-433-9424.

Admission to the event is free to everybody. Competitors are the only people paying. $50 for sport bike and cruiser/touring competitors, $25 for scooter competitors. Wheelchair competitors are free.

This event only exists to help raise funds for a very worthy cause and show our appreciation for what veterans have done for us. Please come help show our support for our past veterans, current service men and women, as well as our future veterans.

Many local vendors, several bands, motorcycles, a terrific memorial, and a bunch of vets to thank for their service. What else do you need?

Honey

I can't begin to tell you thanks enough times to express how much I appreciated your help. It was an amazing day, weather was perfect, thousands of people got to see the memorials, nobody crashed on the sportbike course, and we got to give away a new Ninja. Can't get much better than that.

As far as pics for those that asked, I had no time to take any, but know many did. If I can get some good ones I will post them.

Thanks to everyone that attended and even more thanks to everyone that helped. We were able to raise a lot of money for our vets, and that is what really matters.
