View Full Version : What's the next bike you'd like to add/upgrade to?

**Edit - I'm not talking about what would you go buy if you had all the money in the world. I'm talking about if your bike got stolen tomorrow what would you replace it with? What would you upgrade to when you're ready (financially or otherwise)? What new addition do you have your eye on that maybe you'll buy when you get "x" payed off, etc.

I think my next purchase would have to be a cruiser of some sort. I really like the Yamaha Star line, specifically the Warrior. Simple fact is the RC-51 is not very comfortable on the long haul, highway type of riding. Also, it's horrible for two-up riding and there are some days when a mountain cruise with the wife seems more appealing than a high speed canyon strafe with some of you clowns.

I love my RC and think I'll keep it for a long time to come. The only sportbike I would probably consider selling the RC for is an MV Agusta F4 1000r. (maybe in a couple of years)

So what's your next bike purchase or upgrade?

While I love my S3 and don't foresee getting rid of it any time soon, I'm with you on a long haul / 2 up bike... I'd go the sport touring route though, my back and cruisers don't mix. Perhaps a K1200GT, Sprint ST, or Concourse.

They make the CB1300s, but in Honda's infinite wisdom, they won't import it to the U.S.

Yeah, I'm not set on the cruiser myself, but I'd like to pick up something more comfortable one way or another.

some track bike
Duc Streetfighter
MV Brutale S
MV F4 Senna

gonna need a bigger garage

Yeah, but what are you seriously considering for your next bike, whether it's an addition or an upgrade of your current bike?

Its taken nearly 2 years of steady part time work to get my CBX race bike on the street, so no more build projects for a while.

There are a bunch of vintage sport bikes that I'd add to the collection if possible. There are a few nice CB1100R's in the U.S. and I wouldn't mind owning one of those.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k164/Cbxnut/NRandCBX11001.jpg

More realistic would be a nice condition V twin sport bike (RC51, Duc or Aprilia).

Got a few quirks though. The sport version has some funky brake linking going on that would take a while to get used to.

So what's your next bike purchase or upgrade?
I'm probably in the same boat as you. If I were to just buy another bike to add to the stable, it would either be a Yamaha Warrior or Kawasaki Vulcan series or the Mean Streak. Honda's VTX line isn't bad either. I've been thinking of getting a cruiser for probably the last year or so. The sport touring bikes don't do anything for me. Something appealing about a stripped down cruiser(only thing I'd add would be a windshield for some wind protection).

Obviously if my pride and joy GSX-R1k got stolen, then I'd replace it with another 1k in a heartbeat. I might look into replacing it with a R1 or maybe a ZX10R but that would be if I couldn't find a GSX-R of my choosing, which I doubt that would happen.

I bought a Warrior after my Honda 929 and before my 954. I had the same thoughts as you. Before you buy one though, please take it on a canyon run by yourself. When you're scraping metal on every turn you may have second thoughts. Mine was sold with a little more than 700 miles on it. Just sayin'...

hmmmm. What I would like to do is buy an 07 or 08 R1, so it's a bit cheaper than a new one and dump a couple grand in mods. ex: suspension, gearing, bodywork, electronics, brakes, exhaust, etc.

Although chances are I'll get a used dirt bike or a older trackbike to beat the snot out of

Funny you should mention that, I remember seeing some psycho that built a killer dirtbike frame and suspension around a Gixxer 1K motor. It was really cool, and it was actually lighter than a KTM 990 Adventure, no less!
