Just ran the baby Ninja over it yesterday, it was pretty nice. A little sandy at the bottom but not bad. Chasing R1's down HP hill was comical but she doesn't give up much in the tighter shit.

(It is skills with a “Z” now isn’t it? Us ol timers just can’t keep up with the way young’ns talk anymore.)

This is completely irrelevant to BAR1, but why does everyone around here talk like track days are a "just show up and do it" event.

Unfortunately, I'm sure there's a lot of us younger folk who would LOVE to hit the track (read: me), but I can't shell out $1-2000+ for 1pc Leathers, Gauntlets, Racing Boots, and a race prepped bike and THEN $120-200 for a track weekend. :(

Not really attacking anyone in particular, just had to vent about that.

Adrenalin is a drug, track=big adrenaline, must have more, money is no object. Start looking for used cheap stuff and once you start, like going to IMI where no gear is required you work up to full addiction. Then be ready to turn tricks to get a track day.

I am in recovery (pretty much over it).

You should have the basic gear already if your riding like is mentioned above. If not their are always people on the board willing to loan gear to get people at the track. And the cost of a track day sounds expensive until you compare it to the alternative of getting a ticket (much more then a track day) and the higher insurance. In the long run its a lot cheaper to ride the track to get your speed fix on (not to mention the safety aspect of it). Your luck on the street will run out eventually if you push the limits.

Yeah, but nearly everything you need to get on the track, you should have to be riding anyway.

Bike - check
Helmet - check
Good gloves - check
Leather jacket - check
Riding boots - check

The hardest parts about track days (for non racers) are typically finding the leather pants to make a zip-together suit, finding a back protector to borrow, and draining out the coolant in your bike to replace it with water. Owning a pair of leather pants is not a bad idea, anyway.

Your bike doesn't have to be race prepped, it only has to be *safety* prepped. On several ocassions, I just simply rode my streetbike to track days, and then took the mirrors off when I got there, and taped/disconnected the lights. Of course I own all the safety gear already, but if I didn't, I'm sure somebody would have been at-the-ready to loan it to me.

Getting the funds together for a track day.... well... I guess maybe that's really the hardest part. The other stuff can be figured out easily enough. ;)

G'luck if you get out there sometime this season. I have Sidi boots that fit a 10.5 size foot, if you'd like to borrow them.

Just remember that there are a ton of people on here, who are willing to help with the mechanical bits, and even loan you gear, if you're missing a piece or 2. This guy is just catching a lot of flack because.... well.... I think it's kind of obvious why. His introduction to the club has been a little suspect at best.

Level 1 - IMI you just pay $35.00 and they let you on the track with whatever you have in whatever condition it is.

Level 2 - Chicane days, HPR Lap Days etc… requires at least a two piece suit with a full zipper, most sport gloves qualify, any helmet 5 years of newer, and boot that cover the ankles (any kind). You can prep any sport bike to run and pass tech with minimal work. Basic things like remove antifreeze and replace with water, tape up your glass, remove mirrors. And for you $120.00 you get to be on a real track with all the advantages there in.

Level 3 – Would be something like the MRA were you can really get down to spending your lifes savings...

Prep your street bike for the track costs all of about 5-10 dollars. I got my used suit for $200 boots 200 gloves 200 spine 100. While I know the gear is still alot. Their is also alot of people willing to let you borrow there gear or there extra gear so you can ride the track. There is a whole thread every trackday for just this. Also Scott no has the never ever program (pm Rybo for details) it makes it alot easier to get to the track and doesnt cost as much.

So my point is its not as hard to get to the track as you may think

Of course I have the basic gear for how I ride on the street (Bohn leg protection, Leather jack, helmet, short gloves), but obviously this stuff is not going to get me on the track (I'll have to look into IMI).

And on the track vs. street cost note, I would have to disagree. Even though I just got a speeding ticket, State Farm won't (knock on wood) check for tickets until I have another big policy change. When will that be? At least 3 years out. So I have a $180 ticket and anger at the 5-0 for speed trapping me like that. Solution? I watch my speed way more closely in the city and ride w/ groups in the hills.

Cost's of track have been outlined prior, and it's at LEAST $1000 (if not closer to 2) for the fixings of myself and bike to get there, let alone the entry fee.

I was merely venting about how casually people around here talk about "going to the track" as if you just show up and run. If I could find people to loan me a bigger sized suit (50-52) I would be at the track as soon as I could find a way to tow my bike down there.

Edit: HELP ME GET TO THE TRACK LOL :D :D
Looks like it really may not be as hard as I had expected. Thanks for the replies guys!!

And as far as the gear requirements for feet and hands I was just going per the Chicane website, which lists gauntlets and Motorcycle specific boots as mandatory. Figured my steel-toe leather boots wouldn't qualify there :/

I am a young guy...let me outline my gear

2 pc textile - good for street and n00b track days (CSC $100)
2 pc leathers - red power ranger Halloween costume (ebay $200)
HG gauntlet gloves - (craigslist $15)
Oxtar boots - (dealer $200ish?)
HJC lid - $150 (soon to be replaced with a new Suomy)

I still need a back protector, so thats another $150

I wear this stuff on the street anyway(minus the leathers)...and have collected it over a couple years...I guess I don't mind investing in saving my hide...

Bike prep
having a bike in good work order - free
roll of painters tape for lights - $2
n00b track fee - $50

Its not really that expensive, even once you add it up

Can't blame some for not wanting to go to the track when I know that a couple of folks have gotten a little chapped when all 250#'s of me blow by their liter bike around the outside of, say turn 1 at Pueblo, on my 10 year old R6.

On another note, I'll never forget the thrill my first time on the track. Totally amazing experience and completely blows away anything I ever did on the street. It's a drug and I'm fully addicted.

You've already ostracized yourself from this group. Quit digging. I guarantee not a single person here is going to want to ride with you after all the shit you've been spewing about how you ride on the street.

Furthermore, if you feel that your manhood is being threatened because several of us have now called you out on your ability to ride, bring it to the track. Period. End of discussion. If you really think that you're going to prove something to us on the street, you've got another thing coming. The only thing that riding like an asshole in the canyons proves is that, you, are the epitome of the hated sportbike rider. It is you that makes the rest of us look bad.

I think I speak for every responsible rider on CSC when I say that until you pull your head out of your ass with your MHM mindset, you are not welcome to ride with us. GTFO. Squid.

And you make a very good point, D. However, the idea that "I'm so badass, I ride a liter bike, I am a maniac in the canyons, blah blah blah" is one that's easily put into it's place by a humbling experience on the track. I for one, have learned the hard way that the street and the canyons are not the place to be proving how big one's cajones are. I understand that it's not all about trackdays either, but here we have a guy who comes in mouthing off about how good his "riding" abilities are on his "bad ass R1," and yet, he refuses to come prove said abilities at the safest and most legal place to do so.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for your ability to handle a machine on two wheels, and I think you know that. But I've seen you ride, both on and off the track - and never once have I heard you brag that you're better than the next guy.

This guy has no respect for riding, his machine or others. That is clear. No fear of death just means he doesn’t care about his own safely much less anyone else he rides with. He is the type that gives other riders the reputation that makes radio hosts think it is funny to open doors into us.

The one thing that changed my mind was when I started racing. Once I was racing I had no need to prove who I was on the street as this person obviously needs to.

Thought I would come on here and see if there was more guys that are not affraid to ride the street... I know you and the only reason you wanna talk shit about us street riders who rip up the canyons is because you are affraid of death.. Thats cool everyone has there own likes and dislikes.. Yet I have not disrespected your wants to ride on the track.. Your the ones getting all twisted I love the street.

But then again its clear not all parents taught there childeren respect.

Enjoy your track days!

I never once made such a claim, nor did I ever say I was "afraid to ride the streets" or the canyons for that matter. You've clearly misread and misunderstood my post.

The fact remains that you're no different from the 50 trolls and squids who have come and gone before you. Congratulations, you made it to the other end of the canyon faster than a sensible and responsible rider would have. :jerkoff:

This thread should probably be locked down, but before we go a few things that I'll take away from this thread.

1) Bueller's right, the track isn't for everyone, and can't be forced on anyone. However, if you want to push it hard that is the best place to do it. For me, personally, there are just too many things I can't control on the streets to be dragging knee at 100+ through a corner. The risks far outweigh the rewards and I'd rather get my speed fix in a more controlled environment.

2) This club is a great group of people from all different experience levels, and all different walks of life, but when you come on here swinging your "e-dick" about just how fucking awesome you are it tends to bring a negative response. Kinda sucks because there's a lot of friends to be made here and a lot of help should you need it.

1. Sell the bike

2. Get a broke-down 4wheeler or chopper

3. Breed pit-bulls or boxers in your tiny ass backyard

4. Sticker the shit out of your car w/the MHM logo

5. Beat yo wife (alot)

umm, yeah. you aint seen me.

My whole point. I don't think I ever have.

And plus, the ones that go through as much trouble to hate on somebody "on the net", as you, typically aren't the roughest people, in person.

But whatever's clever. Unless you know these guys in person and all your bashing of them, is an inside joke that I don't know about, it's pretty childish. And again... The childish ones of the group aren't the ones you're normally that worried about. ;)

It may not have been your fault Samuri, but bringing MHM into this whole thread in the first place, was a bonehead move. People could have hated on BadAssR1 directly, w/out clowning on a club that didn't ask to be part of this.

Really guys I have been reading this thread and not really had a comment becuase hey I'm new, and I don't have a bike yet, and well its not really my place. BUT this has gone from an actualy discussion on preferances of riding etc to basically calling each other names. AND bringing in people who never really started anything with u all. I mean wow r u all trying to prove who is the better rider or that badassr1 is a totaly brat or what?

I totally lost the reason behind this thread a few pages ago. Maybe u should all think for a second and realize that the more u hate on each other and call each other gay the more u r the ones that just look stupid. :banghead:

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but come on now...

It was bad enough that MHM even got dragged into this thread, in the first place; just because one guy came on here and introduced himself as an e-Squid. I mean that's a low budget (and very unoriginal) move to pull.

And so because Giianee comes on here to defend his club's good name, that he is admittingly trying to "turn around", Sam-X thinks it's even funnier to pile on??

I don't know man, I don't surf that forum. And to be truthful, I haven't heard anybody come on here, and try and start a club riot. Sure, Anthony made some stupid calls back in the day, when he was trying to get the MHM name out there.

From what I remember, everything that Giannee's ever posted on here, in regards to his club, has been legit and up-front. I don't think BadAssR1 came on here, rep'ing MHM. Somebody just used MHM as a bus to try and throw him under.
