MEssed up the last thread. Who is down to ride on tuesday around 1pm. IM planning to meet in the DTC area right there in the belview and saracuse shopping center with the starbucks. WHo is down to ride? it's suppose to be sunny and a high of 62 :)

After you split off....we got on the HOV then as soon as we got off...I smelled bacon...but just to be nice, I waved at him as we rolled past him in traffic. First he got behind the dude behind me then he jumped in front of the dude behind me and flashed me. I pulled over right away...and first thing he says when he walked up to me was....is this your bike young man...??!?! WTF...whose bike did he think it was...my grandmothers...then he said he was pulling me over b/c they have a noise ordinance and he could hear my bike thru his window. Dude...he didn't even look at the pipe(by the way my pipe is stock..and I told him that)....he then asks for my license and reg. So, I told him he was wasting his time...that I was clean...no tickets, or anything. He runs my tag...and my info...finds nothing, then with a smirk on his face...hands me my stuff back and says have a nice day.

I'm not going to preach about going fast, passing cars (appropriately), or wheeling up a canyon. But there's no reason to split lanes with on coming traffic. I could care less if you put yourself in danger, go for it. But bad passing and lane splitting puts other people in danger who don't deserve it. One of those cars could easily freak out, hit you and the other car, all because you couldn't wait 30 fucking seconds till the other car is gone. Even if they don't hit you and just get spooked and run off the road. You're putting one-five other people in danger because you are a jackass superman. There's a reason sportbikes get a bad name, and this is why. Do what ever you want, just don't let an innocent bystander deal with the results of your stupidity. /rant

In populated areas...we always tone it down, and as far as double yeller crossing. Doesn't that apply to cars that accelerate at 1/8th of the speed of the average superbike? hehe

No really, I'm being bunt. I just have a big problem with putting other people in danger. Willfully splitting traffic isn't necessary and can easily have an effect on someone to whom it wasn't intended. Even with passing, it can almost be the same thing lane splitting. Making a bad pass in a canyon is dumb, there's no reason to do it. I'm not saying that you shouldn't ever pass on a double yellow. Like Lightspeed said we do have an advantage in acceleration and braking. I've made bad choices on rides, everybody has, but I'll never be proud of it. Hopefully I have learned from my many mistakes. As I said, my main point, is that I disagree with anything that could effect someone who has nothing to do with the decision. That's all. We get a bad name as it is and freaking the hell out of mini vans for no reason isn't necessary.

If I'm wrong, I apologize. I don't know if I agree with your "populated areas" idea. It's just as easy to lane split on peak to peak and cause a 2 car and one bike accident than it is on 80th and wads. I actually think it's easier to make a bad pass on a canyon corner and mess up you, the on coming car you hit and the freaked out person who just watched you become a hood ornament.

I'm not trying to preach. I just get sick of the f'ing R.I.P threads that we have every summer. Or the Ride/crash thread where somebody winds up in the ER. I sure as hell don't want to be on the ride where I see another friend crash. That sucks. Just stay safe guys :up:
