This cute little Great Dane puppy will be joining our family next week. Please help us give this lil darlin' an identity. :D

Akasha means the basis and essence of all things in the material world; the smallest material element created from the astral world

Tora is Japanese for Tiger (since she's tiger striped ;))

Pirate is simply cute because of the big patch over her eye

It's funny how a little pup that small will grow up to be a horse. I like Tora, Akasha ain't bad, Pirate doesn't make sense for a female.

Do the names have any meaning? Specifically Akasha and Tora.

Tora seems like a good dog name, short, easy to hear, easy to say. I like it, good luck guys.

Oh Jon! Oh my gosh, soooooo cute. I'm so excited and happy for you.

I really like the name Akasha. Just a cool name.

However I think Tora will be easiest for her to hear. Tora, kinda flows, (TORA!!!!! GET YO BUTT BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!!!) Hahahahaha

Tough choice though, both are good. Dang, now I'm thinking Akasha again.

Not really into the AKC and their outdated ideals on how dogs should look (especially based on coat color), just an overrated beauty pageant IMO. I think dogs should be bred for health and temperment above all else. We drove all the way to NE yesterday to meet her, the breeder, the dam and sire and to make sure she was healthy. Wouldn't have put a deposit on a puppy sight unseen. She is just a plain rare brindle.

We intentionally picked her because she has the most unusual markings I have ever seen. I've been around danes a long time and I have never seen one that compares.

Long story short...is a mismark any less of a great dog?

Nope :D

Mismarks are bred and shown all the time...so...its just a difference of opinions, and we weren't looking for opinions on what others think about the way she looks, just what everyone on here thinks is a good name for her.

BUT...this is the CSC, and what would it be like without a bit of DRAMA every once in a while?!?!?!

Why don't you wait to see her reveal personality a little and it could help with the name
BTW I think she looks like a great dog

I agree that waiting can sometimes help determine what a puppy should be named. But I don't think the names that we are interested in would be influenced by her nature. We got to know her pretty good when we went to visit and I think the names that we have narrowed it down to would fit.

She really is a sweet little girl and we can't wait for her to come home with us

I didn't know that glamor shots had a department for dogs too?? =P I like Tora too simpler and easier to shout when you are upset with it.

Makes sense, my cat's name is Sasha...and she is a vicious little critter, barks (aka meows) more than a dog does.

I voted Tora, but I think "princess" is more appropriate since our CSC princess changed his name.

Congrats Jon!!!

I thought about offering up my home, but I have a very small yard and have to do some fence repairs...not sure he'd be very happy besides, he might eat my ferrets. :)

Let me know if you decide otherwise. He'd do great in a single dog home

Probably wouldn't eat the ferrets... he's very cordial to the cats ;)
